BRIDGEPORT (AP) -- A Bridgeport fire inspector says sparks from metal scraping against Jersey barriers is what caused the fire in last week's tanker truck crash on Interstate 95 in Bridgeport. The fiery crash destroyed the southbound sections of the highway, shutting down the highway for days in both directions. The inspector says friction of metal scraping against about 500 feet of Jersey barrier ruptured two of three tanker-trailer compartments and threw off sparks that ignited fuel spilling on the highway. Tanker explodes in Bridgeport; road could be shut for weeks BRIDGEPORT -- The crash of a fuel oil tanker sparked a major fire on an elevated section of Interstate 95 last night, closing both lanes for this morning's commute - and likely for weeks to come. NASHVILLE, Tenn. Authorities are investigating a vehicle explosion at Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort that has left one person dead. Authorities say the vehicle was in a parking lot used primarily for staging and overflow parking during the holiday season. Police say Gaylord security officers notified them just before midnight of the explosion.
