KING COUNTY, Wash. — Just over 30% of King County ballots for the 2022 General Election have been returned as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Secretary of State. There are 1,382,801 registered voters in the state's largest county, and 417,223 ballots were returned ahead of the weekend. The deadline to vote for the midterms is 8 p.m. Tuesday. Washington State Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tiffany Smiley has taken the lead over 30-year incumbent Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), according to polling. The poll, conducted November 3-5, shows Smiley with a 0.4 percent lead over Murray, sitting at 47.4 percent and 47 percent, respectively. While Smiley has gained momentum, closing a significant gap in the deep blue state of Washington, Murray’s unpopularity has increased to 50 percent, while her favorable rating is 44 percent — a net unfavorability increase from three to six points since October.

Things are getting more interesting in the U.S. Senate race between that barnacle-encrusted boat anchor, Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), and veterans’ activist and nurse Tiffany Smiley, the Republican. RealClearPolitics has moved the race from “leans Democrat” to “toss-up.” One poll predicts that “right now, the Washington Senate race has become ground zero for a wave election upset.” Smiley has been ascendant in recent weeks and has received key aid from Mitch McConnell and his Senate PAC money. She has acquitted herself well on the campaign trail and during debates. A recent poll put Murray up by eight points, but she’s...
  • Washington Senate Race Put on ‘Upset Alert’ as Republican Smiley Polls Within Margin of Error

Washington’s Senate race between 30-year incumbent Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) and Republican Tiffany Smiley has been placed on “upset alert” by the University of Virginia Center for Politics. Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball, the Center’s political prognosticating publication, also switched the race from “Safe Democratic” to “Likely Democratic.” The move in favor of Smiley also comes as the Republican outraised Murray by nearly double in the third quarter, beating her $6 million to $3.3 million. National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) also put Smiley’s race on his list of pick-up opportunities.
  • This Democrat is Voting for Tiffany Smiley (WA)

Tiffany Smiley is a moderate Republican who is much closer to my center left politics than Patty Murray. I’m a bipartisan wing Dem, so I don’t vote blue no matter who. I vote either side of the center line for whichever candidate is closest to my values. If the Dems gave me a sensible moderate candidate, I’d be more than happy to consider them. But I can’t even see Patty Murray from where I am. The policies she supports don’t speak to me. I gave her a pass the last couple of times I voted for her, but now that...

When I heard today's news I thought about what I could possibly do and ended up signing up to volunteer for Tiffany Smiley who is running against that hag Patti Murray. It seems like the best legal thing I can do. I am way past livid at what they've done.

Ared wave that some had forecast for Washington’s midterm elections might turn out looking more like a ripple, according to a new Crosscut/Elway poll. Key points: 1. The statewide poll of registered voters has Democrats holding a 19-point lead – 51 to 32 – in the generic ballot for Congress. A similar question for the Legislature showed 54% of those polled planned to vote for Democrats while 34% favored Republicans. 2. Those numbers show Democrats are even more popular in Washington state than they were before the previous congressional election in 2020, according to the results of a similar Crosscut/Elway...
  • Democrats spending millions to protect 2 blue state senators (panic in Washington, Colorado)

Less than a year ago, a GOP Senate victory in deep blue Washington state would have been unthinkable. But now, Democrats are spending millions on advertising in several once-reliable Democratic strongholds, including Washington, as Republicans build national momentum and push for new Senate pickups. There’s a similar panic in Colorado, where Tuesday’s GOP Senate primary has also drawn millions of dollars in Democratic-funded ads to boost a far-right candidate, a massive last-ditch campaign to keep a moderate Republican off the ballot this fall. Washington’s Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, meanwhile, has spent more than $1 million on television ads in recent...
