Trump-backed Republican Senate candidates in key battleground states are closing in on their Democrat opponents, with most margins reflecting those of the presidential race in CNN/SSRS polls of likely voters. The trend among likely voters suggests that the switch from President Joe Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democrat presidential nominee will not be as beneficial to down-ballot Senate candidates as Democrats had hoped, as Harris’s honeymoon phase has ended with the election two months away. For instance, in Pennsylvania’s Senate race, Republican businessman Dave McCormick is tied with Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) at 46 percent. Another four...

Speculation is swirling around President Biden’s political fate — and over who might replace him on the Democratic ticket this fall should he decide to drop out of the race. Biden has insisted he’s in it to win it, and Vice President Harris would have the inside track on becoming the party’s standard-bearer, but Democratic concerns are growing that his candidacy could cost them the White House and House majority this fall. Though a highly anticipated Thursday evening press conference after the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., was seen as a better performance for Biden than in recent weeks, the...

Former Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Thursday that he wants former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) to consider a third-party presidential bid with No Labels after Christie ended his GOP campaign. Lieberman, chair of No Labels, brushed off previous comments from Christie denouncing the group’s push for a bipartisan third-party ticket. “Look, earlier in the year when he was asked about No Labels, he basically said it was not an effort that had any chance of succeeding, but maybe the world will look different to him now,” Lieberman said in a SiriusXM interview with Michael Smerconish. “And I’d like...

Oprah Winfrey reportedly suggested running for president alongside Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) on a unity ticket in 2020 to thwart former President Trump’s reelection hopes. Coppins’s book “Romney: A Reckoning” comes out next week. Romney said he deflected the idea, pointing to his belief that such a push would benefit Trump’s reelection chances. A source familiar with Winfrey said she was never serious about running, though some confidants...

I will say, this is incredibly similar to the federal indictment that Jack Smith is doing out of DOJ. Other than, as you brought up, now 18 people involved. That’s a much bigger swath of individuals. Something that I think republicans need to take note of, this is a grand jury in a very...
