Someone in California has a winning Mega Millions ticket worth about $1.22 billion, which was drawn on Friday.
The ticket with the numbers 3, 7, 37, 49, 55, and gold Mega Ball 6 was sold at Sunshine Food and Gas on Rhonda Road in Cottonwood, the Associated Press (AP) reported on Saturday:
However, the identity of the winner or winners of the lottery remain a mystery. The AP article continued:
The total amount of the Mega Millions jackpot would only be distributed to a winner who chooses an annuity paid over 29 years. Nearly all grand prize winners opt to take a cash payout, which for Friday night’s drawing is an estimated $549.7 million.
Despite the game’s long odds of 1 in 302.6 million, players continued to purchase tickets as the size of the grand prize grew. Until Friday, the last time a Mega Millions player hit the top prize was Sept. 10.

I have a co-worker that always talks about winning the lottery and having these fantasies of telling everybody off at work and quitting.

Don't we all???
Why is it always New York or California winning most of the lotteries?

First of all a winner of this amount will have to go into
seclusion and get some body guards. That person’s life will
change forever, hopefully for the good.

The key words are in this case “hopefully for the good”. Yes, hopefully the winner uses their winnings for good.

I play the lottery for one reason and that is it keeps me away from any casino.

Those two states have probably bribed the lottery people, so they can collect the taxes.

Well, it’s a $2 ticket these days, but I get the value in entertainment thinking about what I’d do if I won. I never expect to win anything, so it’s working out fine. I buy a ticket every month or two if I happen to think of it.

Looky here! I have a good conspiracy theory going on and somebody always wants to ruin it with math and logic. That won’t do.
