Pedro Quiala Carmenate says he’s not religious but he’s praying for President Donald Trump to liberate Cuba. “There’s no food, there’s no electricity and there’s no medical care,” he told The Post from his neighborhood, Old Havana, where he was speaking on his cell phone Monday during one of the frequent blackouts on the island. In addition to power outages, an increase in crime, no trash collection and climbing inflation, the 34-year-old pro-democracy activist can barely find enough food to feed his children. Due to lack of food, he’s keeping his kids, aged six and fifteen years old, from class,...

In this episode, I take a hard look at what really happens in Mecca, the holiest site in Islam, and ask whether the reality matches the image presented to the world. I examine disturbing footage and reports from the Hajj pilgrimage — from stampedes and harassment to the sheer chaos and commercialization surrounding the rituals — and compare these scenes with the spiritual ideals the pilgrimage is supposed to represent. I also explore the historical claims surrounding the Kaaba, the lack of open archaeology in Mecca, and the enormous financial machine built around the pilgrimage, asking whether the narrative surrounding...

---SNIP--- The New York Times’ Terence Smith, writing about Iran in 1984, described the use of child soldiers by Iran to clear minefields. Young boys, aged 12-17 years, wore red headbands with the words ‘Sar Allah’ in Farsi (Warriors of God) and small metal keys that the Ayatollah declared were their tickets to Paradise if they were martyred in their mission. Many were sent into battle against Iraqi tanks without any protection and bound by ropes to prevent desertion. They were the first wave, making the way for Iranian tanks by clearing barbed wire and minefields with their bodies.

Thousands are thought to have been either killed or rounded up and jailed when the protests were brought to an end in a deadly crackdown by the Islamic Republic's guards. Since then, the regime has started dragging prisoners from their jail cells to sit in front of bright studio lights for televised interrogations. According to Arina Moradi, a member of the Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights, detainees are also subjected to 'mock' executions in jail as a form of psychological torture and humiliation. Shervin Bagherian, 18, appeared in one of Iran's televised confessions wearing a bright blue prison uniform and...

"You have ten minutes to cry,” came the officer’s curt command to the couple as he revealed the corpse of their twentysomething daughter, gunned down in the historic streets of Isfahan. After searching morgues and hospitals for days when she didn’t come home from the demonstrations, they paid 700 million tomans (£3,700) in so-called “bullet money” demanded by the security forces and were driven five hours to another town where her body had been thrown into an old grave. excerpt- Yesterday, for the first time, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, admitted that “several thousands” have been killed...But The Sunday Times...

Gaza Strip — It cost a fortune, she said, but Asmaa Fayez managed to buy a few zucchinis in a Gaza market. She cooked them with rice and brought it to her 4-year-old son, who has been in the hospital for the past week. The soup was his only meal of the day, and he asked for more. "It's all finished, darling," Fayez replied softly. Still, it was an improvement from the canned beans and tuna she brings on other days, she said. Hospital patients are among the most vulnerable as Palestinians across Gaza struggle to feed themselves, with Israel's...

This is intolerable the latest reports I'm hearing they've blockaded the Strip and food is running out (days away) meanwhile airstrikes continue and children are being killed. There are protests in Jerusalem DAILY by Israeli citizens against these brutal tactics and the war in general. The Israeli government says it is trying to pressure Hamas to hand over hostages. President Trump is going to have to intervene or there is going to be a massive crisis especially if the reports are right about them being days away from running out of food. Over 2.3 million Palestinians are affected.

As reports emerge on multiple explosions in Iran, here’s a recap of the October 1 attacks from Iran on Israel. Iran launched dozens of missiles toward Israel on October 1 in what it said was a response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and others — potentially taking the region closer to a wider conflict. Remember: Hezbollah is an Iran-backed militant group in Lebanon. On October 1, CNN teams on the ground in multiple locations in Israel observed dozens of missiles piercing through the skies as sirens blasted across the country. One Palestinian was killed in Jericho as...

Israel carried out airstrikes against military targets in and around the Iranian capital, Tehran, tonight, retaliating for an Iranian ballistic missile barrage earlier this month. Iran’s nuclear facilities and oil installations appear to have been untouched in what the IDF called precise strikes. Israel also stuck military sites in Syria simultaneously. Were the strikes enough to deter Iran? Is there more to come? And will Iran respond? Watch now!

One of Iran's top military commanders is believed to have been killed in an Israeli attack that targeted the new leader of terror group Hezbollah. Esmail Qaani, head of the Quds Force – the elite wing of the feared Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) – was reported to be with the new leader of Hezbollah, Hashem Safieddine, who was targeted in his HQ bunker in Beirut by the Israelis. The air strike on Thursday night during heavy bombing of southern Beirut was mounted as Safieddine held a secret meeting with other Hezbollah leaders in the underground intelligence headquarters.

As refugee centers fill up and rent is jacked up following assassination of Hezbollah's Nasrallah, Lebanese public is reacting with either hysteria, repression or suspicion; Despite major blow, fear of Hezbollah still exists on the street =========================================================== "This man, Hassan Nasrallah, will not die," claimed Lebanese Hezbollah supporters on Saturday. Many of them are still waiting to see him on television screens, explaining what will happen next. They think that the announcement of his death is a ruse and a tactic designed to confuse the enemy. It's hard to believe. Yesterday I went for a long walk through Beirut's streets....

The IDF’s impressive strike against Yemen’s Houthis on Sunday was the most powerful one against the terror group since the beginning of the war, even exceeding the massive strike on Hodeidah in July, sources told The Jerusalem Post ahead of the IDF announcement. Dozens of Israeli aircraft, including F-15I fighter planes, participated in the operation, striking 1,800 kilometers from Israeli territory after the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles on the Tel Aviv and central Israel areas in recent weeks, including one on Saturday. The Houthi Health Ministry said the attack resulted in the deaths of four fighters and the wounding...

The body of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, who died Friday, has been recovered from the rubble at site of the “Israeli” airstrike that targeted the group’s main headquarters in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs. Medical and security sources told Reuters that Hassan Nasrallah’s body had no direct wounds; which would most likely point to blunt trauma as the cause of death. A report by Hebrew channel 12 said that it is believed Nasrallah died as a result of suffocation. At the time of the strike, he was in a room without ventilation, and due to the gas from the “Israeli” air force...

Let’s all give thanks to the Israeli Defense Forces for the operations have that not only gutted Hezbollah, but at long last took out the thugs most responsible for the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing that slaughtered 220 Marines and 21 other US service members. Seven US presidents had failed to bring that basic justice. Bigger picture: Israel’s steady flow of deftly targeted attacks have eviscerated Hezbollah’s leadership and its rocket stocks — and back-footed the civilized world’s ultimate enemy in this conflict, the cabal that controls Iran. It’s also exposed the fatuousness of all the Western “friends” of Israel who...
