You read everywhere about how unfair it is for our American children to be out of the classroom due to teachers' strikes and governors' policy. Well, maybe instead, we should be counting our blessings! How do you think we've gotten to this situation of woeness and socialism? In the classroom! It is taught on every level and many textbooks make sure the children learn the 'lesson" by using rewritten history to change the narrative and remove the truth from our children's ears. While I know that they can still learn this online through virtual school settings, the parents have a...

all other alternatives to an emergency special election seem to end in some form of violence or permanent dislocation of one main party or the other. a re-election would be fine but suffers from the flaw that it invites a repeat in the forseeable future simply by the precedent that it sets. holding an emergency election between the two top second tier contestants is not ideal but there is no ideal alternative. this alternative might be the fairest among the hobbesian universe of unequally unfair choices that do not ultimately involve a government collapse. if the two major parties agree,...

  • Mitt Romney has “Dukakified” the Republicans; Update: Romney to keep the good parts of Obamacare

I’ve argued many times that the politician Mitt Romney most closely resembles is John Kerry, primarily due to the Mittster’s legendary penchant for flip-flopping, a trait Kerry is also known for. I stand by my Kerry comparison, but Jonah Goldberg has an excellent point when he compares Romney to another Massachusetts politician: Michael Dukakis. Meanwhile, the Republicans seem to have become Dukakified. It was Michael Dukakis, the 1988 Democratic presidential nominee, who insisted that the election should be entirely about “competence, not ideology.” Romney has avoided saying that in so many words, but it’s certainly how he’s campaigning. After running to the right in...

Determined to neuter the grassroots and head off future insurgencies like those of Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, and Ron Paul, Republican party bosses have pulled off an audacious coup, high-handedly turning the GOP into a much more top-down, centralized party. Boehner with gavel Yesterday, the Republican National Committee in Tampa adopted some rules changes that shift power from the state parties and the grassroots to the RNC and the GOP presidential nominee. Former Governor John Sununu of New Hampshire touted the new rules as providing “a strong governing framework” for the party over the next four years. But in fact...

(CBS News) In an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, Mitt Romney said his views on abortion rights are more lenient than those put forward in the Republican party platform. "My position has been clear throughout this campaign," Romney said. "I'm in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother." The Republican Party is gathering in Tampa, Fla., this week for its national convention, where in addition to nominating Romney for president, the party will officially adopt its national platform. Last week, the party added language...

Don't you think our president is doing well? Most main stream media(save fox) would call the president " the cause for this disaster". I want to be clear. He was not! God, allowed this to happen. Somne main stream media would call the president a non-sensitive man. Wrong again! Just a few days ago i saw our president, Mr. Bush holding two young ladys and comforting them. I saw some tears being held back bye or president. If any body calls Mr. Bush a "non-carring" man in my presance they would get heck. Then of course, there's people like kerry,...

Hi all you wonderful tech savvy guys (and gals). I'm having some strange noises coming out of my PC. Sounds kind of like the power supply fan hitting something (what it could be hitting, I have no idea.) There seems to be some debat among my local techies on if it's a power supply, or if it's a hard drive (I have 2 in the machine.) What's your best guess? It's a 3 year old machine (Dell Dimension 4500) with a 250 watt power supply. The oldest of the two hard drives is probably 4 years old. Any thoughts?

  • Maldives flooded after tidal waves, reports of casualties but no figures

However, the government said two thirds of the capital was under about four feet (1.2 meters) of water in some areas. About a third of the country’s 330,000 population live in the highly congested capital island. Maldives is a cluster of 1,192 tiny coral islands scattered some 800 kilometres (500 miles) across the equator and is vulnerable to any rise in sea levels. The fate of tens of thousands of tourists in the Maldives was not immediately known.

The John F. Kerry for President campaign and Kerry supporters took aim at First Lady Laura Bush today, claiming in a new book by Kitty Kelly that Laura Bush both sold and smoked marijuana during her days at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. This explosive new allegation signals a new strategy by Kerry supporters to target not only President Bush with charges of drug use in his past, but the First Lady as well. A newly coordinated strategy by the The Kerry camp will begin this week with week-long media appearances by Kitty Kelly (author of "The Family: The...
