Yes, it is better that Liz Cheney stands up for the truth about Trump and the election than to oppose it, which puts her at odds with a political party in which truth is the enemy. But her present position does not expunge her past positions. The sword she's falling on is one she has spent her political career brandishing. If Cheney is punished by her own party, I will not applaud, but I also will not sob. I sit silently in acknowledgment, as one does, when karma swings low and performs its function.
  • No, Sidney Powell is not backtracking on the ‘Kraken’: People are pouncing on statements by Powell's legal team that "reasonable people would not accept such statements as fact" that Dominion Voting Systems aided in voter fraud

Many who opposed President Trump or claims of massive, widespread voter fraud are laughing today. Many Trump supporters are feeling betrayed. These strong feelings stem from a statement in a motion filed by Sidney Powell’s attorneys asking the case made against her by Dominion Voting Systems be dropped. Yet in the same sentence, the true intent of the statement is clear. Nobody should be laughing and nobody should feel betrayed. The statement that’s getting latched onto by people on social media states, “reasonable people would not accept such statements as fact,” referencing Powell’s claims that Dominion Voting Systems was being run...

They took off in a hurry — but these New Yorkers are on the express line back to the city. [cut] Turns out, not all New Yorkers are cut out for country living. “I was definitely not in farm-shape when I got there,” said Thacher, who briefly volunteered at a friend’s organic homestead. [cut] And so after testing out life in Massachusetts, Vermont and Beacon in upstate New York, Thacher settled on, well, Brooklyn. “It’s just so easy to walk places without having to plan things out. You can stumble upon bars or restaurants and not be on a script...

A carjacker died after he accidentally blasted himself in the chest while trying to smash a window with the butt of his shotgun, an inquest has heard. Officers investigating the death of Reece Ramsey-Johnson said they were satisfied there was ‘no third party involvement’ as they closed the probe into his killing. Witnesses who saw the 22-year-old dying from gunshot wounds in the street outside a Lloyds bank in Sydenham on Sunday, September 8, said his own gun may have gone off when he used to to hit a car window. Opening the inquest at Southwark Coroner’s Court on Thursday...

Three weeks into tax season, Americans' tax refunds are shrinking. The average refund issued through Feb. 15 was 16 percent smaller than this time last year, according to data released by the Internal Revenue Service. The average refund so far this year is $2,640, down from $3,169 in 2018. The number of taxpayers getting refunds is also sharply lower compared with last year -- down more than 26 percent, though the number of tax returns processed was down by only 6.6 percent. For now, experts caution against reading too much into the IRS figures, which can swing dramatically week to...

The game "Cowboy Pinball" had contestants standing in the middle of the ring, trying to grab a hundred dollar bill from between a bull's horns. The first bull that entered the ring with the contestants Saturday night was relatively calm, but the second bull bucked and charged, tossing people into the air. Contestants did sign waivers before entering the competition.

When it comes to sexual misconduct, he is not even Matt Lauer, let alone Charlie Rose. Matthews, of MSNBC’s “Hardball” fame, only had to pay out $40,000 to settle a sexual misconduct complaint from an assistant producer, and not the millions dished out by Fox News’ O’Reilly to make similar complaints go away. And who knows how much it will cost these boneheaded, mulitmillionaire television personalities (or former television personalities) Lauer and Rose as more women come forward to accuse them of immoral behavior in the work place? These are frightening times we live in. Which has led to my...

Veteran actress Laura Dern revealed Wednesday that she was sexually assaulted when she was 14-years-old. Dern, now 50, appeared on The Ellen Show and explained that hearing other actresses at the Elle Women in Hollywood event speak out about abuse they’ve experienced helped her come to grips with a past she said she had “justified.” “I woke up and I realized that in that space I talked about how I was one of the lucky ones because I was raised by actors who told me their stories and told me what to look out for, and I realized that I...

The state Supreme Court will hear arguments on Nov. 14 in the closely watched case involving the families of victims of the Sandy Hook massacre who are suing the gun manufacturer that makes the weapon used in the shootings. The families of 10 victims filed the lawsuit in January 2015, seeking to hold the Remington Outdoor Co. liable for the massacre because it marketed a gun to the public it knew was made for military use. Adam Lanza shot his way into the Newtown school on Dec. 14, 2012, and fired 154 bullets in about five minutes from a Bushmaster...

Make-up, hair dye, and tattoos are some of the ways that people inject colour into their lives, but a woman from Canada may have taken it a step too far by getting an eye tattoo. In September, 24-year-old model Catt Gallinger had purple ink injected into the white of her eye. Now, she may have to pay a heavy price for her decision, after the eye tattoo gone wrong may soon leave her partially blind in one eye. She said in a Facebook post that her tattoo artist had used a needle of the wrong size and over-injected undiluted ink...

"I plan to kneel until the president apologizes for the comments that he made, because I felt like those were very disrespectful comments that he made," Matthews said on ESPN's NFL Live on Tuesday. (CLEVELAND) - LeBron James is referring to President Trump as "that guy" in his response to the NFL protests, and not backing down from earlier comments on Twitter. During the Cleveland Cavaliers media day, the NBA superstar had some harsh words for the President, and his voters. "I think that's one of the biggest problems that we have when it comes to vote time," James said. "People are just not educated on either the individual or the state [of the world]." James went on to say that he realizes that the majority of Ohio voters cast their ballots for Trump...
