President Biden will campaign in New York for Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) Sunday in the final few days before Election Day. Biden will travel to Yonkers, N.Y., for a “Get Out the Vote” event with Hochul and New York state Democrats at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Hochul’s campaign announced on Friday. The president recently appeared with Hochul when he traveled to Syracuse, N.Y., on Oct. 27 to tout a $100 billion investment from Micron alongside the governor. Hochul is in a competitive reelection campaign against Republican challenger Rep. Lee Zeldin. The governor recently regained a more comfortable lead in polling...

Clifford Stump visited the VA Hospital Thursday morning in Dallas. He got there bright and early at 5:30 a.m. so that he could get a full checkup and a doctor's blessing to take a trip back in time. The 94-year-old World War II veteran served in the 82nd Airborne and fought in three major battles, including D-Day and the invasion of Normandy. He was a member of a crew in a glider that was towed and released behind enemy lines so he could deliver a cavalry cannon and the Jeep that would pull it into battle.

Via Instapundit and the Washington Examiner, here’s another keepsake from the Barack Obama administration’s economic advisers. Remember when Paul Ryan goaded then-Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner into admitting that the White House had no plan to deal with mounting national debt? Yesterday, Senator Jeff Sessions got OMB Director Jeff Zients to admit that he didn’t know the dollar figure of the added deficits in the Obama budget projection he was defending. In his defense, Zients tells Sessions, “There are a lot of numbers there.” Well, yeah — it’s a budget, isn’t it?

One can only shake the head in wonder at why Barack Obama, the brilliant-beyond-brilliant presidential candidate, has flopped so badly in the same type of campaign-stump venues he enchanted with fairy dust a mere two years ago. Perhaps, as he opined himself in The Audacity of Hope, the throngs loved him in '08 because he was a "blank slate" upon whom voters cast their own pictures. Now that he has an actual record of governance, his audiences are no longer fodder for easy bamboozling. In '08, the people saw what they wanted to see; reality bites back in 2010. Or...

WASHINGTON (AFP) – US labor unions and environmental groups on Tuesday announced plans for a nationwide campaign to boost support for legislation to promote "clean energy" and battle climate change. The 'Made In America' Jobs Tour will open Thursday in Ohio -- a critical political battleground in US presidential elections -- and visit 50 sites in 22 US states, including other major toss-ups, the coalition said in a statement. Leaders of the United Steelworkers, Service Employees International Union, Utility Workers Union of America were to join heads of major US environmental groups on a conference call Wednesday to formally launch...

HEREFORD — Nearly three decades ago, a two-story barracks on Fort Huachuca was carefully dismantled. There was no tearing the structure down without regard for ensuring the pieces couldn’t be used again. For 78-year-old Darl Goode, the object was to reassemble, with slight modifications, the structure on a piece of property off of Green Oak Lane in Stump Canyon. The old barracks, once part of what was called Splinter Village on the post, wooden structures constructed in the 1940s to house two black divisions that trained in Arizona during World War II, was put together on an acre of land...

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will be in Nevada next week to campaign for Republican presidential candidate John McCain, according to Republican announcements. Romney, a one-time competitor with McCain for the GOP nomination who overwhelmingly won the Nevada Republican caucuses in January, will hold a rally for McCain at the Henderson Pavilion at 4 p.m. Wednesday, the campaign announced in an e-mail. Romney is considered a top contender for McCain's vice presidential selection, which McCain is not expected to announce until late next week. Prior to the rally, Romney will host a $1,000-per-person fundraiser for the Nevada Republican Party at...

LAWTON, Iowa - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign took on the appearance of a family business as she headed into the final week of the race for Iowa's leadoff precinct caucuses, driving home to activists the stakes in those caucuses and her view that she's ready for the job. "Next week the eyes of the country and the world will be on Iowa, the world will be holding its breath," said Clinton. "We know that this decision you face is so important, you are picking a president and there isn't any more significant decision for you to make as a...

Surprise! Bush still popular on stumpBy: Mike Allen Nov 16, 2007 12:02 PM EST Despite voter unhappiness about the Iraq war, President Bush remains popular enough with Republicans that he has raised more money for the party this year than he had at the same point in the last election cycle. His party’s presidential candidates do little to embrace the president, although they generally support his policies and have proposed few reversals. And this year’s crop of GOP congressional candidates is unlikely to say much about him. Indeed, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee plans to make “Bush rubber stamp” one...

Today, Monday, 10-18-04, 2:21 EDT, I'm checking the latest political news and when I stop on MSNBC, I see Kerry in Florida and he has a decidedly greenish cast to his hair, his suit, so much so that I wonder if my color adjustment on my television has mis-cued (sorry, about the non-pun) -- and I switch to CNN, which is running the exact same scene of a green-hued Kerry among his devotees, on the campaign stump. All the other newscasts, including our local stations, showed the same brilliant green hue, from top to bottom. Green hair, green tie, green...

"Stump Problem" John Kerry and Terry McAuliffe political cartoon.  June 4, 2004... It’s no secret. Sen. John Kerry’s campaign stump speeches are boring. Reporters write about it, late night talk show hosts joke about it, and no doubt Democratic National Party Chairman Terry McAuliffe stews about it. Here are a few odes to the Kerry stump problem we’ve collected: “John Kerry has a new 757 jet to use while he campaigns for president... did you see it on the news? This is a really cool plane. In the event that Kerry starts speaking, oxygen masks fall from the ceiling...

An Arizona state legislative committee has approved a resolution calling for the dissolution of the federal government in the event that it abolishes the U.S. Constitution, declares martial law or confiscates firearms -- scenarios some say are not unrealistic. Critics of the resolution, however, call the measure a "total waste of time." Rep. Karen Johnson, a Mesa Republican and chair of the House Committee on Federal Mandates and States' Rights, authored the resolution which the committee approved 3-2. Only the committee's vice-chair, Republican Rep. Gail Griffin, abstained from voting. Specifically, House Concurrent Resolution 2034 outlines the origin of the United...
