President Biden will campaign in New York for Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) Sunday in the final few days before Election Day. Biden will travel to Yonkers, N.Y., for a “Get Out the Vote” event with Hochul and New York state Democrats at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Hochul’s campaign announced on Friday. The president recently appeared with Hochul when he traveled to Syracuse, N.Y., on Oct. 27 to tout a $100 billion investment from Micron alongside the governor. Clifford Stump visited the VA Hospital Thursday morning in Dallas. He got there bright and early at 5:30 a.m. so that he could get a full checkup and a doctor's blessing to take a trip back in time. The 94-year-old World War II veteran served in the 82nd Airborne and fought in three major battles, including D-Day and the invasion of Normandy. He was a member of a crew in a glider that was towed and released behind enemy lines so he could deliver a cavalry cannon and the Jeep that would pull it into battle.

Yesterday, Senator Jeff Sessions got OMB Director Jeff Zients to admit that he didn’t know the dollar figure of the added deficits in the Obama budget projection he was defending. In his defense, Zients tells Sessions, “There are a lot of numbers there.” Well, yeah — it’s a budget, isn’t it?

One can only shake the head in wonder at why Barack Obama, the brilliant-beyond-brilliant presidential candidate, has flopped so badly in the same type of campaign-stump venues he enchanted with fairy dust a mere two years ago. Perhaps, as he opined himself in The Audacity of Hope, the throngs loved him in '08 because he was a "blank slate" upon whom voters cast their own pictures.
