No country should allow the sale of children or the intentional creation of orphans, which, make no mistake, is exactly what is happening with surrogacy. A British man living in the United States who has recently begun a romantic relationship with his daughter’s ex-boyfriend bought a baby and is being praised by media for it. Barrie Drewitt-Barlow paid about $100,000 for his new daughter, Valentina Willow. He is most proud of the baby girl’s looks.“Every parent thinks their baby is the best-looking baby in the world, but the truth is Valentina Willow is the best-looking baby in the world,†Drewitt-Barlow...

Topeka resident William Marotta had argued that he had waived his parental rights and didn’t intend to be a father.

Shawnee County District Judge Mary Mattivi rejected that claim, saying the parties didn’t involve a licensed physician. “The parties failed to perform to statutory requirement of the Kansas Parentage Act in not enlisting a licensed physician in the artificial insemination process, and the parties’ self-designation of (Marotta) as a sperm donor is insufficient to relieve (Marotta) of parental right and responsibilities to the child,” Mattivi wrote.

There is so much wrong with the following story that like other great art that imitates life, I think I’ll let the story mostly speak for itself…and many of the ills of society in general. So, stop me if you heard this one…. Two lesbians put up an ad on Craigslist looking for a sperm donor. This is not in dispute. They put up an ad on Craigslist looking for sperm, like sperm are a couch or a T.V. or those old worthless beanie babies your haggard aunt collected. In response to the ad, one William Marotta, who apparently...

You knew it had to happen sometime. A husband discovers that he and his wife have the same sperm donor father. (Both of them raised by lesbian parents.) That means he married his half-sister, who is now the mother of their three children. What should they do? Although the story has not, to my knowledge, been verified, it was the subject of a question submitted to Emily Yoffe, author of the Dear Prudence advice column. The husband explained that when he met his wife in college, “the attraction was immediate, and we quickly became inseparable. We had a number of...

In 2006, as a Probate and Family Court judge in Boston, I began hearing a case filed by a self-represented woman who requested an order that a sperm facility disclose the identity of the father of her two young daughters. She gave as her primary reason that the children suffered from health issues and needed a complete medical history from their father. As a secondary ground, she cited the children’s need for financial support. After multiple hearings and several trips between the Probate and Family Court and the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the complaint was dismissed in 2011. (The first decision...

JERUSALEM, August 15, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A rabbi at a religious conference said Wednesday night that a woman "who decides to have a baby out of wedlock by means of a sperm donation is unbelievably cruel," reports the Israeli news service Ynetnews.com.Rabbi Nachum Rabinowitz, a prominent figure in the Religious Zionism movement, expressed anger at what he considered an act of pure selfishness. "Whoever plans on having a baby like this by choice, just in order to fulfill her needs as a mother, has exceeded all evil and cruelty."Rabinowitz emphasized the impact this kind of willed single motherhood has...

ASSOCIATED PRESS Half-siblings meet through Web site set up by mother who reached out NEDERLAND, Colo. -- Michelle Jorgenson thought it was odd that her 8-year-old daughter Cheyenne -- conceived with sperm from a mystery man known to Jorgenson only as Donor 3066 -- was extremely sensitive to sound and walked on her toes.
