In 2006, as a Probate and Family Court judge in Boston, I began hearing a case filed by a self-represented woman who requested an order that a sperm facility disclose the identity of the father of her two young daughters. She gave as her primary reason that the children suffered from health issues and needed a complete medical history from their father. As a secondary ground, she cited the children’s need for financial support. After multiple hearings and several trips between the Probate and Family Court and the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the complaint was dismissed in 2011. By the end of the case, the process of anonymous sperm “donation” struck me as inhumane, and sperm “donation” in general as thoughtless, even though many of the individuals involved behave in understandably human ways. In today’s article I explain the problems for fathers and children created by sperm donation. Tomorrow I address the role of money as a problematic incentive for “donation” and offer suggestions for how we can slow the growth of the sperm-sale industry

hahaha. spit. Sperm donation in the black community has been the norm for a long time. It has never been a problem.

All things considered, it is stupid to be a sperm donor, with the laws the way they are. About the black community, whatever happens there, speaks for itself.
There are certain criteria to be met, and certain information that can be accessed by the potential recipient. That basic historical health information apparently isn’t part of that process is stupid.
Because, actually, it should be one of the “safest” ways to beget, or obtain, a child by a method outside of what USED TO BE considered normal considering all the other just take your chances that are out there.

Didn’t I read here in FR the other day that a half sister and brother raised by two pairs of carpet munchers got married and later found out they were sister and brother?
I have no doubt that is true. My only point, is if the scum bags in government, try to make the donor pay child support. That part, is stupid, and is why I would never consider it.
I can see that. But the government has been forcing me to do things to the point I have had enough.
Yeah, I’m stupid to have put up with it for so long.
But, different from them, I can live with my mistakes.
I wish people respected themselves more and gifts God has given....sexuality is a gift, often squandered by many...
Amen brother, and that is another reason I would never get involved. Hebrews 13:4 about sums it up.

Hopefully, those laws will help deter many men from making this dreadful mistake.
Medical history? No problem; just redact name and location of the donor.
