It’s the programming equivalent of the circle of life: programming languages are created, gain popularity, hit their peak, and slowly degrade until nobody uses them anymore. With some languages, this process is fairly rapid, especially if the language in question never sees much adoption; others are decades old and still going strong. For developers, knowing which languages will fade is a crucial issue: It’s hard to earn money off programming in a language that nobody really uses anymore. Here are five languages that won’t disappear tomorrow, but the long-term trends definitely don’t look good.R In the TIOBE Index, R has tumbled...

Company excised wokeness from workplace after employees reportedly demanded "internal reckoning" over list of funny names that they, themselves, had helped create. Their invocation of "genocide," one exec said, made rational discussion impossible. About one-third of employees at software company Basecamp quit days after bosses told them to keep ideology out of the workplace and focus on the company’s actual business. “We make project management, team communication, and email software,” CEO Jason Fried wrote April 26. We don’t have to solve deep social problems, chime in publicly whenever the world requests our opinion on the major issues of the day,...

I do voiceover work on the side, and I'm getting to the point I am booking some work. I want to redo my existing website, which was all hand-coded in HTML ages ago. Can anyone recommend user-friendly software for web design? I've got a host and DNS referrals in place... just want something more professional than what I have at the link. Thoughts?

There was a time not too long ago when the smart folks in Big Pharma were proud that they had developed technology through mRNA treatments that could change the structure of our DNA and even our genome. This was once heralded as breakthrough science and they boldly compared what they were doing to “software updates” we have on our computers and mobile devices.Watch the show on Locals or listen to it on Apple Podcasts:That was then. Today, that narrative has been obliterated, not because anything has changed with the treatments but because its introduction into “vaccine” research forced a strategic...

The venerable Hubble Space Telescope is recovering from a glitch that halted its science operations over the weekend, according to NASA. The telescope entered "safe mode" unexpectedly on Sunday morning (March 7), stalling the observatory's science observations due to an apparent software glitch. Science operations resumed late Thursday (March 11). While Hubble is partially back to work, NASA is still troubleshooting one instrument on the 30-year-old telescope, according to a statement released on Friday (Mar. 12). The WFC3 issue was an "unexpected error," according to NASA, that occurred when the telescope was transitioning from safe mode into pre-science after the...

The security holes...leave the door open to industrial-scale cyber espionage, allowing malicious actors to steal emails virtually at will from vulnerable servers. Tens of thousands of organizations have already been compromised,...the sluggish pace of many customers’ updates...means the field remains at least partially open to hackers of all stripes...Intriguingly, several of the groups appeared to know about the vulnerability before it was announced by Microsoft on March 2.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, the surveillance state has utilized technology derived from Silicon Valley, such as facial recognition algorithms, to enhance society’s control. Authoritarian regimes and unscrupulous corporations are leveraging these technologies to track citizens, stalk criminals, and monitor employees, but what if this technology, rapidly advancing in the last couple of years, can determine a person’s political views? Imagine this; obviously, the Washington Metropolitan Area is lined with surveillance cameras, with some cameras that may already be employing facial recognition algorithms. Hypothetically speaking, what if these cameras could recognize an angry mob and accurately (to some...

Ok, I'm getting fed up with the internet and Windows. Windows not-so-much, but under WinXP, the versions of Firefox and Chrome I can run are pretty ancient and I either get hit by tons of ads or it gives me a time error and won't even let me in. So I have an older CD which is Knoppix 5.1 and I am trying to configure it to talk to my modem. If you have had experience with this and have hints/tips, please let me know! TIA!

Cracking Dominion’s Source Code – A National Security Threat Since 2003by George EliasonDecember 29, 2020110052SHARE6 Dominion ImageCast precinct count optical ballot scanner Image by Douglas W. JonesWith the Georgia runoff election in full swing, this article will show why the ballot results should be ash-canned even before the final tallies are in — both Georgia and Pennsylvania adhere to the federal standard for elections and because Dominion uses modems, the election provider itself is not certifiable. Pennsylvania state certification requires that voting systems be evaluated by a federally recognized independent testing authority, or voting system test laboratory (VSTL), and certified...

Ware County, Ga has broken the Dominion algorithm: Using sequestered Dominion Equipment, Ware County ran a equal number of Trump votes and Biden votes through the Tabulator and the Tabulator reported a 26% lead for Biden. Those conducting the test were so shocked that they ran the same ballots again. The same results appeared. ONE PIECE OF THE PUZZLE SOLVED. (It is worth noting that this was one County, and on one Tabulator alone. https://twitter.com/robbhurstCPA/status/1335557576587665408?s=20

I have been using Eudora or Eudora Pro since the nineties. It has finally quit working (again) and before I go through the process of trying to make it work(again), which could take all day(again), I thought I would take the cowards way out and ask for advice from my most trusted source. Free Republic What course of action, or new software would FReepers choose?

In a paper published on the Web today, a group of Princeton computer scientists said they created demonstration vote-stealing software that can be installed within a minute on a common electronic voting machine. The software can fraudulently change vote counts without being detected. "We have created and analyzed the code in the spirit of helping to guide public officials so that they can make wise decisions about how to secure elections," said Edward Felten, http://www.cs.princeton.edu/~felten/ the director of the Center for Information Technology Policy, a new center http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/archive/S13/34/75A49/index.xml at Princeton University that addresses crucial issues at the intersection of society...

Election software in Michigan's Antrim County that had incorrectly directed Democratic votes to presidential candidate Joe Biden was updated Friday, putting thousands of votes correctly into President Trump's totals. The software had reportedly caused a significant number of votes to be allotted to Biden in a county that has for years been reliably red. In the presumed final count, Biden had originally led in the county by roughly 3,000 votes. Revised totals show that Trump won the county by around 2,500. The error came after an election staffer failed to update the software to adjust for changes in a local...

In a major step towards global centralization of election processes, the world's dominant Internet voting company has purchased the USA's dominant election results reporting company. When you view your local or state election results on the Internet, on portals which often appear to be owned by the county elections division, in over 525 US jurisdictions you are actually redirected to a private corporate site controlled by SOE software, which operates under the name ClarityElections.com. The good news is that this firm promptly reports precinct-level detail in downloadable spreadsheet format. As reported by BlackBoxVoting.org in 2008, the bad news is that...

Speaking from the Republican National Committee in Washington D.C. Thursday afternoon, Trump campaign attorney Sidney Powell detailed foreign corruption behind Dominion Voting Systems, the same software used during the 2020 presidential election in the United States. "There is no doubt it has been used to alter elections in other countries," Powell said, explaining the system was developed at the direction of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez to remain in power. "The Dominion Voting Systems, the Smartmatic technology software and the software that goes in other computerized voting systems here as well, not just Dominion, were created in Venezuela at the direction...

Last Sunday, in my article "'Lost votes are fraud votes," I looked at the "lost votes" for the 2020 presidential election listed in Internet blogger "Pede's" analysis, and I described how, after adjusting for the thrown-away votes, Trump won Pennsylvania and will win (after the recount) Georgia, while Biden likely won Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, and possibly Arizona. But there's still something missing. "Pede's" data search exposed votes switched from Trump to Biden, and "votes lost" (mostly Trump votes thrown away); but there is a third category that escapes this type of data scanning: "votes added."By "votes added" I mean fraudulent "votes"...

First, my qualifications. I've written over a million lines of code in the last 42 years, including nationwide systems for companies whose names you would recognize instantly. I have been granted quite a few patents on systems containing software and algorithms for solving real-world problems. This is my job and life, and I do it five or more days a week, sometimes lying awake at night designing those systems and algorithms in my head while the hours tick by. Ask my wife. There are many, many engineers like me in the U.S., engineers who do this because they love it....
