An Engineer Explains Why We Must Kill Software-Based Voting: Let me list just some of the ways one could engage in election cheating by fiddling with software

First, my qualifications. I've written over a million lines of code in the last 42 years, including nationwide systems for companies whose names you would recognize instantly. I have been granted quite a few patents on systems containing software and algorithms for solving real-world problems. This is my job and life, and I do it five or more days a week, sometimes lying awake at night designing those systems and algorithms in my head while the hours tick by. Ask my wife. There are many, many engineers like me in the U.S., engineers who do this because they love it.

And in every election, when I shove my ballot into an electronic voting machine, or touch the screen to vote, I feel nauseated because I cannot see what's behind the algorithmic curtain.

You see, the great thing about software is that you can have a chunk of expensive electronic and mechanical hardware sitting there, and you can easily change the function of it with a simple software update. That makes my life easier as a developer, but it's a hideous feature when applied to voting machines because they are systems critical to our republic that should not be easily corrupted.

Let me list just some of the ways one could engage in election cheating by fiddling with software:

* Change the voting ratio between two candidates by any fraction

* Display an entered vote correctly to the voter, then change the vote before tabulation

* Display a summary of votes to an election official, and change that total later

* Allow remote modification of vote totals via the internet or local WiFi

* Change votes or methods at a certain time of day, or at a later date, even after voting machine certification concludes, or before/during auditing

COMPLETING THE LIST:

* Change votes in a random fashion on election day to make it appear to be a legitimate voting trend

* Change voting trends by precinct, or using historical voting statistics

* Update the software secretly with a new algorithm

* Provide intermediate vote tallies to remote actors who are gaming the election in other ways

* Make adjustments to the votes of one candidate and tracking adjustments to other candidates down ballot

We need Columbo to figure out this voting fraud mess. He could connect the dots!

I'm a software developer and I warned against this 2 decades ago.

We need to return to mechanical voting machine only, no electronic and no paper except for absolutely necessary absentee voting.

Deep fake videos are a new thing.

Deep fake voting is nothing new.

I’ve been a professional software developer for 35+ yrs.

Yes, software systems can be vulnerable... if you allow it.

But it is possible to create tamperproof systems for voting that also allows for vote verification and anonymity.

The main problem with such a system is getting it used by the states that have embraced corruption for so long.

This is why people rose up and opposed electronic voting machines.

So now, we have paper ballots still, but electronic counting machines. And instead of verifying the counting by hand immediately after the machine count, we are just trusting the machine counting.

It’s insidious, how these wicked people never stop with their nefarious plans to electronify elections.

We need a federal death penalty not just for election fraud, but for people who merely act to undermine election integrity. This is treason, plain and simple, against our Constitution.

you’re thinking mechanical at the local level.
in those systems, the cheating happens upstream

We never had a significant problem when we used those mechanical machines and people had to go to the polls and sign in and match their signature.

The only fraud then were the few hundred or so people the Dems would round up in busses for a pack of smokes.

I work with embedded systems and I can tell you that it would be easy to rig a voting machine system for cheating.

An open-source, open-hardware electronic voting system should be created....it can be done.

I say create a contest and let the geeks over on Hackaday have a shot at it for a 20 million dollar prize for the team that creates the best system.

They would get right on it!

A 6th grader warned that all mail in voting and software based counting was a bad idea.

The student first noted that the left rejects the values America was founded on and projected that there was no basis to believe they would play fair.

All these changes could also happen in software that runs our financial systems. But our banks, businesses, Wall Street, pensions etc all run on electronic systems.

Many other countries have paper only ballots, but they typically only have one election at a time.

In the US you could have
President
Senator
Representative
Governor
State Senator
State Representative
Other state wide offices
Mayor
Council
Other city/county wide offices
Judges
Dog catcher etc.

All at the same time. We could move to a paper only system but it would greatly increase the cost and time to count the results and there would still be the possibility of manual error.

I am a professional software developer, and without reading the article I can unequivocally say it is, and alway will be, impossible to deliver a safe voting system solely based on software.

This is because any software based solution is based in large part on other software systems which are not controlled by the vendor.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

As I recall watching it on BBC, the BREXIT vote was entirely paper ballots, counted by hand, and overseen very tightly.

There are two questions that we must be asking:

1) Was there fraud in this election?

2) Was the fraud massive and sufficient to hand the election to Joe Biden?

Here’s the thing — Evidence is CUMULATIVE — The Dead Voting, Statistical improbability, Dominion Software moving votes from Trump to Biden, hundreds of sworn testimonies, newly discovered discarded ballots by the thousands, thousands of votes with ONLY Biden being chosen and no other candidates for congress, senate or local elections, etc. — ALL OF THEM FAVORING BIDEN.

So, in regards to the first question — ABSOLUTELY.

So, In regards to the second question: Was the fraud sufficient to hand the election to Joe Biden?

*THAT* is extremely difficult to prove short of a statewide AUDIT.

The one factor that has the potential to shift votes by the hundreds of thousands from Biden to Trump is the software used to tabulate the votes. Sidney Powell has been on top of this from the get go.... she better deliver because answering the second question very tough.

The evidence presented has to be SOLID ENOUGH to justify state wide audits and recounts ( re-vote even ).

You, for example, could create a system that you would trust.

But you can’t create a system that I would trust, unless I could personally inspect it.

And even then, I don’t think I’d trust my own expertise enough, so unless I could crowdsource the inspection, I wouldn’t trust it either.

And even then, I’d know that there would be unknown vulnerabilities due to the inherently complex nature of computer systems. And I’d know that some of those vulnerabilities could already be known by adverse parties.

I think PA ignoring a direct order from SCOTUS, the illegal agreement between the GA SOS and the State Dems, the taping up of windows and kicking out of observers in MI, and the invalidation of results for a local race, but not the Federal ones in Clark County NV is enough to bring to the Supreme Court alone.

And the currently known Dominion software issues in MI and GA, should be enough for an audit, not to mention GA's Statewide update (which was almost certainly not validated) one month before the election.
