In the Great Sequestration Debate, here’s what we know: (a) The president has paternity of an idea he now characterizes as a brutal and senseless assault on America. (b) The president and his then-chief of staff, Jack Lew, misled the public about their role in giving birth to the sequester idea. (c) House Republicans have twice passed legislation to avoid the sequester cuts with carefully targeted ones, but Senate Democrats refused to act. (d) Mr. 0bama has brushed off a Republican plan to give him flexibility to allocate the $85 billion in spending cuts, which makes no sense if the...

According to published reports, it costs the government tens of thousands of dollars every time Biden takes Air Force...

The plan would suspend all flyovers in all sports...

‘The worst-case scenario for us,” a leading anti-budget-cuts lobbyist told the Washington Post, “is the sequester hits and nothing bad really happens.”

Think about that. Worst case? That a government drowning in debt should cut back by 2.2 percent — and the country survives. That a government now borrowing 35 cents of every dollar it spends reduces that borrowing by 2 cents “and nothing bad really happens.” Oh, the humanity!

“Buy this magazine or the dog gets it!” screamed the National Lampoon magazine cover for January 1973, showing a gun to a dog’s head. Today, President Barack Obama is nakedly threatening to harm the country and the American people if he has to slow spending. Democrats have a gun to the heads of American families. They are threatening to pull the trigger if they have to give up their spending addiction. While these tactics are old, they are not normally acted out so poorly. What’s new is that Obama is being so obvious that everyone is noticing. The Democrats are...

Sen. Reid to the Press: ‘You Guys Have an Obligation to Report’ that Democrats Are Right February 28, 2013 By Elizabeth Harrington (CNSNews.com) – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that the news media have an “obligation” to report that the Republicans are “unwilling to do what the American people want done” on looming automatic, across-the-board budget cuts. During a news conference on Capitol Hill held on the eve of implementation of the cuts, known on Capitol Hill as “The Sequester,” a reporter asked Reid: “Can you understand the frustration of the American people that you’re blaming the...

David Axelrod has written Gene Sperling off as a political lightweight lacking the tonnage to have intimidated Bob Woodward in their dust-up over the sequester. Appearing on today's Morning Joe, Axelrod sarcastically asked "what is Gene Sperling going to do to Bob Woodward? Bob Woodward, who faced down H.R. Haldemann as a young man, feels intimidated by Gene Sperling?" You really have to hear the sneer in Axelrod's voice as he pronounces the name "Gene Sperling" to appreciate just how far under the bus Axelrod was willing to throw a fellow member of Team Obama. View the video here.

Budget: When President Obama put out his "balanced" plan to avoid the automatic sequester cuts, no one noticed. Which is probably just as well for Obama, given how embarrassingly unbalanced it is. Last week, New York Times columnist David Brooks wrote about how Obama "hasn't actually come up with a proposal to avert sequestration, let alone one that is politically plausible." Turns out, Obama did have one, although Brooks can be excused for not knowing it, since the administration hasn't exactly been promoting this so-called plan.

Due to federal budget issues, the sporting world will soon have to say goodbye to flyovers. Michelle Beadle is alright with the cut because she isn't comfortable using tax dollars to fund this, but Dave Briggs says it's a reminder of our military in front of millions of people.

Happy Sequester Day!!! Barring an overnight deal, the Gov't is cutting $85Billion from it's bloated budget. This thread is to report the draconian events resulting from the catastrophe.....

As Krauthammer says in his 'Hail Armageddon!' column in today's WaPo, Barack Obama DESPERATELY needs for affects of sequester spending cuts to be harsh on the American public -at least in their minds- or he loses. Thus, the bizarre claims from congressional drones i.e. Maxine Waters' "170M jobs will be lost!", White House staff threatening journalists who dare speak the truth, and of course the panic-mongering propaganda tour... This isn't just some right-winger-clinger theory, a Democratic strategist came right-out and said it himself: “The worst-case scenario for us,” a leading anti-budget-cuts lobbyist told The Post, “is the sequester hits and nothing...

This really has me terrified. I don't know it our country will survive this. We have about 1 hour before sequester hits the East Coast and most Americans are mostly unaware of it. We cant fault our President Obama. He has been traveling around the country speaking in political rallies warning us of the worst if it hits, but they just wont listen. They wont listen! Only an emergency tax increase bill could save us now and the GOP just wont do it. They don't care. They don't care. The only thing comparable is how Noah warned of the coming...

Today on NBC’s Chris Matthews’ show, Bob Woodward was one of the guests on the panel, and during the standard Q&A between Chris and the panelists, a couple of curious things came out of Woodward’s mouth. The first thing that caught my attention was when Chris played a segment of the inauguration where Obama said we “must begin again the work of remaking America.” Woodward began his comments by reminding us of the “if you will unclench the fist, we will extend the hand.” He says it’s obvious the big difference between Obama and Bush & Cheney is that Obama...

The Obama Administration has been Woodwarded again, this time with a major scoop: Bob Woodward has a major front-page story that is more or less a summary precis of General McChrystal’s confidential Initial Assessment of the Afghan situation...I have a few initial assessments of my own: 1. It is not good to have a document like this leaked into the public debate before the President has made his decision...I assume the Obama team is very angry about this, and I think they have every right to be... 4. The leak makes it harder for President Obama to reject a McChrystal...

Bob Woodward’s Monday-morning exclusive on a 66-page report from Gen. Stanley McChrystal to President Barack Obama about Afghanistan policy was a rite of passage for the new administration: the first major national security leak and a sure sign that the celebrated Washington Post reporter has penetrated yet another administration. White House officials greeted the leak with a grimace, but none suggested they’d begin a witch hunt for the leaker. Woodward is famous for his access to the principals themselves — he recently traveled to Afghanistan with National Security Adviser James Jones — and leak hunters couldn’t expect with confidence that...

The publisher's catalog says Bob Woodward's upcoming book on the Obama administration will portray the president struggling for control of his domestic agenda. Simon & Schuster will release the book, currently untitled, this fall.

NEW YORK (AP) - A Bob Woodward book on the Obama administration is coming out in September.

Wow, this is worse than I imagined. Bob Woodward, in his classic way of infiltrating a White House, has done so in his most recent book, Obama's Wars. The chaos from this book is frightening. There is no goal in mind. There is no end game. There is simply academic discussions that are never ending.

A senior administration official who read the book says "the President comes across in the review and throughout the decision-making process as a Commander in Chief who is analytical, strategic, and decisive, with a broad view of history, national security, and his role." The official says of the descriptions of the infighting in the book that "the debates in the book are well known because the policy review process was covered so exhaustively." White House officials are still matching New York Times excerpts with anecdotes in the book but one says not all the quoting is fair, especially Vice President...
