Mayor Andy Ginther countered President Donald Trump's executive order with one of his own. The mayor said Columbus will be a welcoming place for immigrants and refugees and city resources won't be used to enforce immigration laws. The executive order comes just days after Trump banned immigrants from seven majority-Muslim nations. That ban led to large protests over the weekend at John Glenn International Airport. About 50 protesters demonstrated outside City Hall Monday evening calling on Columbus to designate itself a "sanctuary city". Ginther's executive order stops short of that but the protesters said they supported the steps he took.
