A suspect with a history of violence against strangers has been arrested for the random October assault on actor Rick Moranis near his Upper West Side apartment, The Post has learned. A sergeant assigned to Transit spotted Marquis Ventura, 35, at 96th Street and Broadway on Saturday and made the arrest; investigators were transporting the West Village man to Central Booking Saturday night. “Huh?” an unblinking Ventura responded to a reporter’s question, as detectives led him in handcuffs from the 20th Precinct on the Upper West Side at 8:30 p.m.

Of all characters, it figures these two hoseheads would have trouble with two-metre social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. But after years in the making, life-sized bronze statues of SCTV’s inseparable Bob and Doug McKenzie appeared on 103 Street and 103 Avenue Tuesday night under a gentle snow, wearing tuques and jeans and clutching open stubbies — what we Canucks used to call short beer bottles back in the day, eh. The lively and beautiful colour-patina statue is a collaborative effort between accomplished Edmonton sculptor Ritchie Velthuis, the non-profit SCTV Monument Committee, Calgary’s Bronzart Casting and actors Rick Moranis and...

Rick Moranis is leaving his decades-long hiatus from live-action acting to join Disney’s sequel to its 1989 blockbuster “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” Variety has confirmed. Moranis will reprise his role as Wayne Szalinski, the crackpot scientist who accidentally shrunk his children (and the neighbor’s kids), then accidentally made his infant child enormous in 1992’s “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid,” and then accidentally shrunk himself and his wife in the 1997 straight-to-video sequel “Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves!” — which was also the last time Moranis acted in a live-action feature. In the new film, which has the aptly condensed...

Uzbeks! If you are a fan of perhaps the best comedy show on television, SCTV, you probably already have a smile on your face. Uzbeks were part of the hilarious SCTV universe from Canada that would be considered taboo today in our overly PC culture because they were parodied as being a drunken, shiftless people. Back when SCTV was broadcast during the years 1976 to 1984 the references to Uzbeks caused not a whiff of protest which says something about how times have changed.David Menzies of Rebel Media in Canada explains why SCTV was so popular and, sadly, why many of...

Bernard "Bernie" Sahlins, the co-founder and former owner of Second City and a crucial and essential innovator in the field of American comedy, died peacefully Sunday at his home, his wife Jane Nicholl Sahlins said. He was 90. It is hard to overstate Sahlins' influence on the growth and innovation of sketch comedy, and on any entertainment that involves performers making things up based on suggestions from the audience. He also was famous for spotting big talents, quickly and early. "Bernie's track record for discovering future Hollywood megastars was unmatched," said Tim Kazurinsky, one of Sahlin's numerous discoveries — a...

When one of Lebanon’s most wanted terrorists kills himself while planting a bomb it is cause for at least some sort of grim celebration. But when the chief bomb-maker of the country’s most notorious terror group self detonates while helping rebels fight in Syria, it is cause for concern.

Nothing poltical tonight. However, I thought I would post a skit from my FAVORITE comedy show of all time---SCTV. This skit is a parody of an overly relaxed Perry Como singing, "Still Alive." Someone once told me he ran into Perry Como years ago in a Publix supermarket down here in Fort Lauderdale. When he asked if the familiar looking gentlemen was really Perry Como, the singer answered, "Yes, and I am STILL alive." Nice to know that the real Perry Como got a kick out of this SCTV skit. It was one of their FUnniest skits. Watch and...

From jokester to jailbird Former Saturday Night Live star Tony Rosato has languished behind bars for two years with no trial May 13, 2007 04:30 AM Dale Anne Freed He started out as a gifted improv comic at Toronto's Second City. From there, Tony Rosato took his zany writing and performing style to the small screen, winning fame on SCTV and later on Saturday Night Live. His off-the-wall characters ranged from fictional TV chef Marcello Sebastiano to Lou Costello, Captain Kangaroo and Yasser Arafat. Industry buzz pegged him as the next John Belushi. Rosato went on to perform in a...

I was reading the text of the interview between Kalb and Rather and learned that the Rather story on Bush's aborted National Guard service was thwarted by "blogs" called "Free Republic" and "Buckhead." I did find a Buckhead.org, but it just seems to be a bland Atlanta area news source, so I don't know the story in that. So I came here. And guess what? Nothing. Your story page is nothing more than boilerplate site/conservative mission comments. I really don't know why this blog is meaningful at all. I would guess the main stream media has nothing to worry about.
