RICHMOND —Rep. Scott Taylor (R-Va.) leads Democratic challenger Elaine Luria 50 percent to 43 percent in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, according to a new poll released Monday by Christopher Newport University’s Wason Center for Public Policy. Karen Mallard is running against incumbent Republican Congressman Scott Taylor in Virginia's Second Congressional District. In the wake of the tragic school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, she decided to destroy her husband's AR-15 rifle. In a video posted to Facebook, she said she wanted this rifle out of the house and her husband agreed. Our friends at Twitchy noted her blog post on the matter: You may have seen Emma Gonzalez's amazing speech where she called out Trump and other politicians for taking NRA money and refusing to take any action on reforming America's...

NORFOLK The Democratic candidate for the 2nd Congressional District in 2016 was indicted Wednesday on charges she lied to the state about feeding needy children. Businesswoman Shaun Brown, who has already announced plans to seek her party’s nomination next year for the same seat, faces two counts of wire fraud and one count of theft of government property. The federal indictment alleges the fraud is in excess of $439,000. Brown, 58, referred questions to her attorney, who said she plans to plead not guilty and defend against the allegations. “Shaun’s goal is that every child is fed,” attorney Jimmy Ellenson...

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Rep. Scott Taylor (R-VA) took on host Laura Ingraham on the issue of the legal status of the so-called DREAMers — children brought to the United States illegally. Taylor insisted giving legal status to the DREAMERs through DACA was not “amnesty.” Transcript as follows: INGRAHAM: Above all else President Trump was elected on one clear issue, stop illegal immigrant. And that would mean build the wall, no amnesty, you know the drill. But there are some Republicans in Congress including the guy right here who still believes that the DACA amnesty thing...

....“I don’t know how you get around that this wasn’t a referendum on the administration, I just don’t," Taylor told reporters at Gillespie's election night party. "Some of the very divisive rhetoric really prompted and helped usher in a really high Democratic turnout... "I’m telling you that from someone who is from Virginia, who watched these races, who watched people lose tonight against opponents who are completely no name.” ....Taylor admitted that Trump could threaten the GOP's House majority. When asked whether Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) would retain his speakership if Trump doesn't moderate, Taylor said it was an "interesting...

Like many Americans, I was upset by the decision by a military judge Friday to not give a prison sentence to Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for desertion, misbehavior before the enemy and endangering our own troops. I'm disappointed for all the troops who continue to uphold their sacred honor to our country and to the men and women on their left and right in places around the globe. Bergdahl willingly walked off his Army base in Afghanistan in 2009 and was held captive by the Taliban for five years. A tremendous amount of military and other assets were brought to...

It’s the very thing the GOP Establishment fears most – loss of control. This week, an example of that diminished control reverberated throughout D.C. as challenger Scott Taylor, who is a former Navy SEAL and current Virginia State Representative, defeated longtime Republican Congressman Randy Forbes. Taylor supported Donald Trump and Trump’s America-first economic platform. Randy Forbes did not. Virginia voters just fired Randy Forbes. Taylor hosted a Virginia Trump rally as far back as September, and has since repeated his plan to support the New York billionaire in his upcoming presidential battle against Hillary Clinton. .. Reports indicate a stunned...

The populist uprising against phony “free trade” and Republicans who love it has taken its first scalp. Rep. Randy Forbes, GOP establishment stalwart and longtime Obamatrade supporter from Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, will soon be unemployed. Voters rejected him in favor of his primary opponent Scott Taylor, who stridently opposed Obamatrade.

State Delegate Scott Taylor defeated Rep. Randy Forbes in the Republican primary race for the second congressional district on Tuesday. With nearly 53% of the vote Taylor won more than 21,000 votes. Randy Forbes won about 41% of the vote. Pat Cardwell, a local attorney, registered about 7% of the vote. Taylor said enough voters believed in his message that Washington is broken and that he will bring a fresh start. "People trust us to go do something about it," Taylor said. "That's extremely humbling and it's not a responsibility that I take lightly." What may also have helped is...

Rep. Randy Forbes, GOP establishment stalwart and longtime Obamatrade supporter from Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, will soon be unemployed. Voters rejected him in favor of his primary opponent Scott Taylor, who stridently opposed Obamatrade. Taylor blasted Forbes for voting to give President Obama fast track authority to ram through Congress the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a sweeping 12-nation international regulatory pact that would merge our economy with some of the poorest and most repressive on earth. This move was especially hypocritical for Forbes, chairman of the House Prayer Caucus. Obamatrade would give special economic privileges to countries that persecute Christians, including Vietnam,...

With a former head of U.S. Africa Command scheduled to testify at a closed-door hearing Wednesday about the events surrounding last year's attack on an American outpost in Benghazi, former members of the military are demanding the hearings be made public. OPSEC, a grassroots advocacy organization composed of former members of the intelligence community and special operations forces, has launched an online petition calling for an end to closed-door hearings on the Benghazi attacks. "Americans have been demanding answers on the lack of a U.S. military response to the attack in Benghazi, but what they're getting in reply are committee...
