Former Gov. Chris Christie (R) said that the events leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol were "driven from the top" and executed by "C-team players" around then-President Trump. Christie said it was "C-team players" who told Trump what "he wanted to hear" during his last few months in office, during an interview Sunday on ABC News's "This Week" with host George Stephanopoulos. Christie added "you got a bunch of people around him by the time we got to the end, with very few exceptions, that were C-team players, at best, on their best day."

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was a result of former President Trump's lies about the 2020 election being stolen, CNN reported. "I think everything that he was saying from election night forward incited people to that level of anger," Christie told CNN in his episode of the "Being..." series as the former governor mulls his own run for president in 2024. Former President Trump on Monday dismissed a report that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) tried to have him disinvited from President Biden's inauguration. "From Election Day, November 3rd, the day I realized that the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged, I would never have agreed to go to Joe Biden’s Inauguration. Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen West said that he removed the mask of a person who confronted him at Dallas-Fort Worth airport for not wearing a mask in public. West said in a statement that he was "berated" at the DFW airport on Wednesday by a man who he called "a left-wing partisan," who "cursed and insulted" him for not wearing a mask. He then responded by "flicking the individual's mask off."
