David Dorn was trying to help a friend. The retired St. Louis police captain was shot to death early Tuesday during a violent night of protests in which four active St. Louis police officers were also shot. Dorn, who also served as police chief in Moline Acres, was 77, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
