To be Sure Save Our License screwed up big time by not filing the campaign documents as required by the state. But I was more shocked at the nerve of Ramirez and Prince in claiming they never supported Save Our license. I called their office and they told me no of the problems with initiative. An initiative that would bar undocumented immigrants from obtaining driver's licenses and most public services failed to qualify for the ballot. The "Save Our State Initiative" fell about 115,000 short of the 598,105 needed to qualify for the November ballot, organizers said Monday. The initiative never got the support and funding it needed from the Republican leaders. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger never took a position on it. Republicans were hurt at the polls for their support of a similar initiative in 1994. Proposition 187 was approved by 60 percent of voters but it was challenged in court and never took effect....

Just heard an appearance on the John and Ken show by Ron Prince, sponsor of the new Proposition 187-type initiative that (if it gets enough signatures) will appear on the November ballot. Prince reports that an associate was attending a meeting with Schwarzenegger aides, on the subject of how Republican candidates should handle their campaigns. In the course of the discussion, the question of the new illegal alien driver licenses came up. An aide answered, "Don't worry about that, we're going for a 'referendum-proof' version." According to Ron Prince of Save187.com, the new CA driver's licenses for illegal aliens bill is designed to be "referendum-proof" and if it passes, an initiative would need to be created to overturn it.
