Memorial Day is not just another holiday that falls on Monday. On this day, we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our country. We also remember those who are currently defending same. Despite all the bad news being shown in the media, there is also much good going on in Iraq and Afghanistan, only the media (or most of them) won't tell you. Many of you remember (and attended) the numerous Rallies for America held last year. Radio station KPRC decided to hold another rally today. This rally was at the same location as the previous Houston rally...

Two days this week (Tuesday and Wednesday, I think), Beck claimed that there is a concerted effort to "stop" his book, and he clearly meant to prevent its printing, distribution, and sale. He also said that he has hired full-time security, something he hasn't needed for a while (he previously had it because of some post-9/11 "religion of peace" threats).

"On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty, to God and my country ...." Even today, many years later, those words from the Boy Scout pledge bring to mind camping trips and corny singalongs, troop meetings in dank church basements, summer camps and late-night whispering sessions in which we swapped dirty jokes that we didn't fully understand. Much of the magic of boyhood, in other words. Unfortunately, something's gone awry in the Boy Scout movement I knew and loved. Last weekend, I went to a Scout fund-raiser in Lilburn billed as a patriotic "rally for America."...

A mother separated from her child. A college student smacked so hard his nose gushed blood. Two women asked to buy Mary Kay cosmetics by a cop whose wife was selling the stuff. One woman asked out on a date by a police officer. The March 20 anti-war demonstration that shut down Lake Shore Drive didn't just give Chicago a worldwide blackeye. Many of the 543 protesters arrested that night say it left scars, both physical and emotional. On Tuesday, a parade of protesters told their stories at a City Council hearing called by three independent aldermen that dragged on...

A moving memorial 20,000+ gather at MU stadium in support of America’s troops By JEAN TARBETT - The Herald-Dispatch HUNTINGTON -- Kyle Smithson couldn’t say the words. "Just because," he said with tears in his eyes, summing up the reason he drove from Cincinnati to Huntington, painted USMC on his forehead for "United States Marine Corps" and carted flags and signs into Marshall University Stadium Saturday. When the former Marine found his voice, he managed an explanation: "To thank the ones who have come home and the ones who didn’t come home and to thank the families of both." Smithson...

<p>HUNTINGTON -- President Bush is sending a recorded video message to the people -- and especially the troops -- who attend Glenn Beck’s Rally for America at Marshall Stadium on Saturday.</p>
<p>Cathy Hawks, senior producer for the talk show host’s rallies, said she has had a friend who works for Bush working on the possibility, and that she called another contact at the White House Monday to make sure the first person followed through. "I haven’t seen it yet, so I can’t tell you exactly what he is going to say," Hawks said Monday night as she was traveling between Fort Wayne, Ind., and Columbus, Ohio. "But in one script I’ve seen, he thanks the troops for the job they did, and he thanks the people for supporting the troops."</p>
