<p>A pro-troops rally Wednesday in downtown St. Louis drew about 800 supporters of the war on Iraq, creating a sea of American flags.</p> <p>But not all of the national banners were U.S. flags.</p> <p>Alex Sutherland, 52, formerly of Scotland, walked about draped in a Union Jack. And Jeremy Klaven, 22, of Creve Coeur wrapped himself in the blue-and-white flag of Israel, its Star of David standing out in Kiener Plaza.</p>

More than 200 residents rallied yesterday on Greenwich Avenue, waving flags, signs and banners to show support for American troops on the battlefield in Iraq. Most demonstrators said they are not pro-war. Instead, they simply wanted to rebut the numerous anti-war rallies that have been staged around the country in recent weeks, they said. "We're not here to support war," said Gary Belmonte, 57, a Greenwich resident and Vietnam veteran. "We're here to support the troops." Several demonstrators, including Belmonte, said they feared the anti-war protests would send a message to troops that Americans do not support them.

I heard on the news last night that there were going to be two large rallies in the Portland Metro Area this coming Saturday (1/18/03). One would be a Anti-War in downtown Portland and one would be a Pro Troops rally in Gresham I think. Does anyone have info on the Pro Troops rally? I am across the river in Washington but I would show up. I checked the web-site of KGW (the TV station where I heard about it) and did not find anything.
