I heard on the news last night that there were going to be two large rallies in the Portland Metro Area this coming Saturday (1/18/03).
One would be a Anti-War in downtown Portland and one would be a Pro Troops rally in Gresham I think.
Does anyone have info on the Pro Troops rally? I am across the river in Washington but I would show up.
I checked the web-site of KGW (the TV station where I heard about it) and did not find anything.
If this is happining we need to get the word out. Portland has anti-war protest every week and this is the first time I have heard reported a Pro Troops or Anti Anti-war rally.

Hi Cyber, have you asked this question at Oregon Locale? They may know more about this. Also, Aric2000 just moved here from Oregon.

I just checked and ex-Texan mentioned the Anti-War protest. I cannot post to their local though.
I know we have a few Washington Freepers in the south and a hop across the river might make some difference.

I heard about the anti crowd but not the pro-troops rally.
There is a big anti-war rally brewing for the 28th I think too. On the news last night there was a piece on the sign makers, making thousands of signs to get ready...

Check with Lars Larson, and if you haven't heard him, get him via KXL (I think) from Portland, noon to 4pm. Email him at
lars@larslarson.com. If I weren't on the other end of the state I'd join you. Ashland city council just voted to NOT help the feds with any INS or FBI work on terrorists...Oregon is on a fast track down the tube!

I love Lars... Sent him an e-mail this morning. Waiting to hear back.
I live in Washington but most media around here is Oregon based and I have clients in Oregon so I often know more about Oregon politics and such than I do of Washington.
Oregon is going to be a hotbed for the Presidential elections. It may seem bad but really Oregon has a better chance of turning things around than Washington. You guys are close to 50-50 in your political split and I think the Conservative side might be closing the gap.
Plus I think Oregon will be the place where Libertarians and Republicans prove that they can work together, at least on common goals. That might not mean more elected Republicans per say, but better information on ballots and an even stronger initiative process.
The Libertarians are making an strong push against 28.
Anyway, let me know if you hear anything.

Hey, CC thanks for the bump. I don't know if I'll have the temperance to deal with freaks in the-land-of-the-freaks. I can't even imagine how screwed-up they'd be....
