WASHINGTON, Dec. 4, 2005 – The U.S. is already on the road to complete victory in Iraq, the president's national security adviser told Sunday talk show hosts today. "We do have a strategy and we think we're making progress" on the president's National Strategy for Victory in Iraq, Stephen Hadley said on "Fox News Sunday." He added that "this is a difficult thing that's being done." Hadley said the subtitle of the strategy, unveiled Nov. 30, defined what the Bush administration considers a complete victory: "Helping the Iraqi People Defeat the Terrorists and Build an Inclusive Democratic State." Hadley said...

December 02, 2005, 8:19 a.m. The Winning Side Fox tells some of the mostly untold stories from Iraq. By Stephen Spruiell Whenever anyone — typically conservatives — criticize the media for not reporting on the successes the U.S. military has achieved in Iraq, the inevitable reply comes, "Well, what if there isn't any good news to report?" As a matter of fact, there is. And fortunately there are a few reporters and news organizations who are getting outside the Green Zone, talking to Iraqis in other parts of the country and finding a lot of success stories out there. On...

While in Iraq, I was pleased to hear that hundreds of Jordanian family members of al Qaeda Iraq chief, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, have renounced the terror leader, telling King Abdullah II that they would "sever links with him until doomsday." We, the sons of the Bani Hassan tribe in all its branches in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan support and express solidarity with our cousins, the al-Khalayleh clan, and their decision to disown, totally, the terrorist Ahmad Fadheel Nazzal al-Khalayleh, who calls himself Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. We condemn and reject all terrorist actions carried out or claimed by this individual...

THE NETWORK television newscasts and big-city papers that set the tone for most "reporting" from Iraq have done Americans a disservice by concentrating solely on the "bad news" in that country. Worse, at least some of the skewed reporting appears to be the result of deliberate bias. Consider a tidbit relayed by conservative columnist Michelle Malkin. The New York Times on Oct. 26 ran a story that included a vignette about a Cpl. Jeffrey Starr from the state of Washington who "died in a firefight in Ramadi on April 30 during his third tour in Iraq," four months before his...

A bit long, but very informative if you are interested in weapon system performance, tactics, leadership etc.. Occasional USMC standard expletives deleted... Writer has highlighted a couple of key bits of information missing from our mainstream news media's reports. This is from a retired USMC First Sergeant - thought you might be interested in his son's assessment of weapons and enemy tactics in Iraq. One conclusion is that the best weapons for one environment (Jungle) may not be the best for another environment (! desert or urban fighting). Nothing new to that but how many weapon systems can an a...

Time to remember that any reporting of progress and good news in the War on Terror is purposely being kept from US by the media-ocres .. the well-known arrogant and biased typical news sources ... who have such pathetically hateful character that they'd rather deny and color the truth than give any hint of support or praise Pres. Bush or our fabulous military.Especially now that the Dim dark forces and Rinos are converging and conniving to undermine Pres. Bush, while preparing their agendas and stalking points for the 2006 and 2008 elections, it's vital that we get the word out...

The government agency leading the cleanup of the Chesapeake Bay has consistently overstated its progress while minimizing threats to the bay and its own failures to address them, according to a federal oversight report released yesterday. ... The criticism comes amid growing angst among policymakers and the public that an agreement reached five years ago for cleaning the bay by 2010 could fail without a big political and financial boost. In the agreement, known as Chesapeake 2000, the region's political and environmental leaders proposed cutting the amount of major pollutants that enter the bay nearly in half over a decade....

BANGKOK, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Militants raided a village in Thailand's restive Muslim-majority south overnight, shooting dead up to nine people and wounding eight others, the army said on Wednesday. Residents of Baan Gra Thong, a Muslim village in the southern province of Narathiwat, were blaming the killings on security forces and were barring police and army officials from entry, southern Army spokesman Acra Tiprote said. But he said the army was not responsible. "This is the work of troublemakers who created the incident and blamed it on security officials," the spokesman said. "We have learned that eight or nine...

Second, schools were evaluated in order to provide a safe, healthy learning environment for schoolchildren....

KIRKUK, Iraq — Ever since Muntaha Akhras was a little girl, she’s wanted to be a reporter. The problem was, for the majority of her 36 years, free speech didn’t exist in Iraq. That void has quickly been filled by aspiring — albeit untrained, inexperienced and often openly biased — journalists like Akhras and her husband, Kaml Darwish, who often dodge death to do their jobs. Two months ago, the pair hatched an idea to start a military newspaper, the Kirkuk Messenger, a sort of Iraqi Stars and Stripes, in that the paper derives funding from the United States government...
