Private Purchasers at Gun Turn In event Courtesy Dean Weingarten Headlines were screaming panic. The old man was prepared and working on the computer when the phone rang. As has become a necessity, the number on the phone I.D. was examined. An old friend, trusted and proven, was on the other end. “Have you got any guns you are willing to part with?”“Maybe. I haven't done an inventory in a bit. Let me check.” The FBI NICS background check lines were full. The system was overloaded. Store shelves were empty. Approvals defaulted to three days wait. Some buyers were panicked. There...

Nevada Secretary of State Democrat Ross Miller, has certified a Nevada gun control initiative put forward by organizations funded by Michael Bloomberg. The timely turn in of signatures and some signatures themselves have been challenged by a group of Nevada second amendment supporters. Democrat Ross Miller lost the 2014 election for Attorney General. Because of term limits, he was ineligible for a third term as Secretary of State, and is in lame duck status. He also certified the Marijuana initiative. From the AP article: Nevada's top election official is giving the go-ahead to two initiatives for the 2016 ballot:...

Two articles in two local papers provide two takes on the two to one vote that defeated the "universal background check" or "ban on private sales" a week ago on the 12th of February. Depending on whether you read the seacoastonline or the New Hampshire Union Leader, the bill went down to defeat because of confusing parliamentary wrangling (the house is controlled by Democrats 215-177) or the Democrats want the bill to go down, but did not want their names attached to its defeat. From seacoastonline: HB 1589 would have required most private sellers to conduct background checks through...

The New Hampshire House could be voting on HB 1589 this Wednesday. This is a gun control bill that was written by out-of-state gun control groups as admitted by Democrat Representative Butler in sub-committee (see the video by Ken Park Jr.). There are no gun crime issues in the Granite State. As a matter of fact, New Hampshire has some of the lowest gun crime in the country – far lower than neighboring Massachusetts which has draconian gun laws in place. Democrats are pushing this unnecessary gun control bill based on outrageous lies. The following shreds some of their most...

Milford, NH --(Ammoland.com)- I know that New Hampshire Firearms Coalition (Â NHFC ) President Jon Evans and I have been asking a lot of you lately. However, you the grass roots gun owners are our strength. To be honest, whenever the legislature is in session, our Second Amendment rights are at risk. We must be vigilant. While we have been warning you about SB 244, a bill that would create a new gun ban for tens of thousands of Granite Staters, the anti-gun activists have been preparing to pass a ban on private gun sales. The gun ban crowd is pushing HB 1589,...

Two enterprising young men gloat over their purchases at a gun "buy back" It has been clear for some time that gun registration is effective gun confiscation. It just happens in slow motion, or as this Lieutenant Colonel pushes for, whenever a power hungry administration thinks it can get away with it. It is also true that guns bought at retail from an Federal Firearms License dealer are recorded on a form 4473 and in their bound book, making a link from that gun with that serial number to the person who bought it. This creates the...

A National Geographic “undercover team” wants to end private firearm sales and ban those they find disturbing. They never say it honestly and outright, but that’s the conclusion one walks away with after viewing the hysterical hit piece embedded in a July 16 ABC “Nightline” report. “Investigative journalist” Mariana van Zeller is appropriately incredulous and intimidated as “former police officer and firearms expert turned private investigator” Jesse Torrez guides her through such shocking activities as looking up classified ads on the internet, dialing the phone and driving to meet people to make private transactions. Had someone with experience in such...

You can help take valuable guns like these off the street. Across the country, communities, police departments and churches are sponsoring gun turn-ins to get "guns off the street". At many of these events, private buyers are showing up, offering cash for the more valuable guns. These private additions to the public turn-in are effective, no doubt, in getting more guns off the street, because they add to the resources that are available to those who want to get rid of guns for something of value, be it a grocery card or a number of twenty dollar bills. These...

In a paper published in 2008, comparing highly regulated Californian gun shows with relatively unregulated Texas gun shows, there was no statistical difference in suicide rates, but the Texas shows, with far less regulation, showed a statistically significant drop in the homicide rate. From the study: "But our results provide little evidence of a gun show-induced increase in mortality in Texas. In fact, we find that in the two weeks following a gun show, the average number of gun homicides declines in the area surrounding the gun show. Aggregating across all gun shows in the state, we find that there...
