Seattle Parks and Recreation is looking to add a children’s play area to a local park. Normally, there would be no controversy, but it’s a specific park that’s causing the problem. Denny Blaine Park, located near the Madison Park neighborhood on Lake Washington is one of the only nude beaches in Seattle. According to City of Seattle spokesperson Christina Hirsch, Seattle is considering putting a small children’s playground on the northwest corner of the park. The area was identified as needing a play area due to it currently sitting within a neighborhood that doesn’t have a play area or park...

The infant son of a California tech honcho overdosed on fentanyl he found while crawling around a playground in an upscale San Francisco neighborhood, according to his frightened father and nanny. The 10-month-old twin, Sena, was playing with his brother at George Moscone Park in the Marina District on Tuesday afternoon when he began struggling to breathe and turned blue, his nanny Wendy Marroqui said. “I shook him, and I’m like, something’s wrong,” Marroqui told wral.com. “I saw his face and he was dizzy. I thought he’s not breathing.”

On April 23, Police arrested a Meridian, Idaho mom while she was allowing her kids on a playdate at a local park for violating Coronavirus restrictions. While the kids were playing on a swing set, officers approached the mother who they inevitably handcuffed and walked to a police car. Other parents who congregated in a grassy area flanking the swingset gasped and asked the officers for explanations. Many of them filmed the incident. Now, Idahoans are taking matters into their own hands and protesting the cop’s home.

Picture a nude George Washington riding a white horse, wearing high heels and nothing but a coquettish pout on his lips. Now imagine a portrait of the scene hanging at the National Portrait Gallery in the nation's capital. That's not much different from what is happening in Mexico's most prestigious museum, Palacio de Bellas Artes, which is displaying a controversial portrait of Emiliano Zapata, one of the country's most beloved revolutionary heroes. The small painting by 32-year-old artist Fabián Cháirez, called "La Revolución," has provoked outrage and protests by a handful of Zapata's descendants and a farmers union. They are...

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — A Wake County mom is trying to keep other parents from experiencing what she did when her child suffered severe burns on playground equipment. “It was a struggle,” said Danielle Zillioux. Zillioux said her daughter was only 14-months-old when she got 2nd-degree burns on her hands. “Every time we had to change [the bandages], she would cry, especially when the blisters broke. It was just painful,” she said. It happened two years ago at Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of West Cary. Zillioux worked there at the time. “The teacher that was with my daughter at...

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say two men opened fire at a crowded west Philadelphia playground, wounding seven people. Police say several hundred people were at Baker Playground in the city’s Overbrook neighborhood, where a cookout and basketball games were taking place, when the gunfire began just before 9 p.m. Saturday. One person was shot several times, while others were wounded in the arms or legs or had graze wounds to the face or head. All were reported in stable condition. Philadelphia’s police commissioner, Richard Ross, said the 18- to 25-year-old shooters weren’t firing at each other, but into the crowd....

The words, written in big, white, Impact letters, caught my attention as I scrolled idly through Facebook a few months ago: “IF YOU REMEMBER THIS, THEN YOUR CHILDHOOD WAS AWESOME.” They were superimposed on an image that did instantly remind me of something: the SuperPlayground, a wooden play structure in a small park in my hometown, which was torn down and replaced several years ago. In the small, lefty community of Sebastopol where I grew up, in the wine country north of San Francisco, there were many playgrounds, but the SuperPlayground was everyone’s favorite. Whimsical details like a dragon slide,...

While there are many threats to religious liberty, few are more consequential over the long term than the state’s ever-expanding role in private life. If the government is able to vacuum up tax dollars, create programs large and small for public benefit, and then exclude religious individuals or institutions from those programs, it has functionally created two tiers of citizenship. Secular individuals and institutions enjoy full access to the government they fund, while religious individuals and institutions find themselves funding a government that overtly discriminates against them. That’s the issue the Supreme Court addressed today in Trinity Lutheran Church...

An Illinois playground was bobby-trapped with straight-edged razors glued to equipment frequented by children, WQAD.com reported. The sharp razors were discovered by parents at Millennium Park in East Moline, near the state’s western border with Iowa. The parents say their 2-year-old son was cut by one of the blades on the monkey bars. "He said, 'Ouch,'" Sally Jenks, the boy's mom, told the station. "He started bleeding and we looked and they [the razors] were everywhere."

"The day after that conversation, my 12-year-old daughter took her toddler brother to a playground, only to return very soon and very shaken. This park is Harlem in miniature. There are two playgrounds, less than 300 yards apart, an old basic one and a new shiny one. In the new playground, well-dressed toddlers of different races, most of them minded by dark-skinned nannies, played together. At the old one, a few black kids played while their older siblings kept reluctant watch. A couple of drunken men loitered nearby. Apparently, one of them had lashed out at my daughter, calling her...

Hevron Arabs targeted 20 Jewish children in a playground Saturday night with huge building blocks and rocks intended to kill. The children in the Beit Hadassah neighborhood escaped the attacks without injuries, but by the time security forces arrived, the Arab attackers had escaped. The onslaught originated from the rooftops of two houses occupied by Arabs next to Beit Hadassah. One resident said that there have been several similar incidents in the past several years, but Saturday night’s attack represented “a sharp escalation in the size of the blocks thrown” at the children. Arabs also tried to strike the Jewish...

The United Nations is in the final stages of obtaining approval to build a new high-rise on the Robert Moses Playground, located near the U.N. headquarters in New York City. The building, excluding the price of land and security, is estimated to cost $350–$475 million and would provide a home for U.N. offices that are currently dispersed throughout New York. Heritage Foundation fellow Brett Schaefer points out that with America paying for 22 percent of the U.N.’s budget, taxpayers could be on the hook for a large portion of the new building’s cost.
