The kids were in for quite a shock when they went out for recess at Our Lady Immaculate School in north Dublin and they were met with a severed human hand on the playground.
The police were called and immediately cordoned off the area to investigate.
I wasn't able to find it, which is quite a shame, but security footage showed that the hand was left on the playground by a bird.
However, police do have an idea of whose hand it was.
A twelve-year-old boy in the area recently lost his hand playing with a homemade gasoline bomb.
The whole lose-an-appendage-while-playing-with-explosives-then-having-said-appendage-relocated-by-a-bird scenario sounds oddly similar to a story out of Tacoma, Washington, from last year.
Mystery finger found in Tacoma finally returned to its owner Earlier this month, around the Fourth of July, Tacoma, Washington, police were alerted to a human finger lying on the ground. NOTTHEBEE.COM https://notthebee.com/article/mystery-finger-found-in-tacoma-finally-returned-to-its-owner-who-lost-it-messing-around-with-some-fireworks Here we thought all the birds talked about up in the trees was pooping on freshly-washed cars.
Turns out they're also up there hoping we'll blow ourselves to pieces, so they can drop body parts out of the sky and scare children.
Shoutout to NTB users @AustinH and @Gwen42 for handing off this story.
“The Birds” - Hitchcock.
Run and Hide guys, the world is coming to an end.
If it belongs to the kid, he won’t be doing that again.
Yep. This is Ireland.
Some of the things I did as a Kid...I should of been dead a long time ago...........
Who knew Ireland had Rednecks?????????............
...And that, Constable, is when young Patrick "Lefty" O'Hara said, "Hold my corned beef and cabbage and watch this..."
Hold my Guinness
Known as the Red Hand of Ulster, and featured on that county coat-of-arms, the red hand symbol is also part of the O’Neill family crest. Here’s how Wikipedia explains the legend(s) of the red hand,
“According to one myth, the kingdom of Ulster had at one time no rightful heir. Because of this it was agreed that a boat race should take place and that ‘whosoever’s hand is the first to touch the shore of Ireland, so shall he be made the king.â
“One potential king so desired the kingship that, upon seeing that he was losing the race, he cut off his hand and threw it to the shoreâthus winning the kingship. The hand is most likely red to represent the fact that it would have been covered in blood. According to some versions of the story, the king who cut off his hand belonged to the UĂ NĂ©ill clan, which apparently explains its association with them. Another variation of this story concludes that it was none other than Niall of the Nine Hostages who severed his own hand in order to win his crown from his brother. â
Those IRA terrorists start their training young.
They blow up so fast.
gotta hand it to the bird for finding it...
“...I should of been dead a long time ago.”
Same here. I’m a lot more careful these days.
My first thought was a Muslim caught someone stealing.
The Seagull found the hand, but three it away.”Not much meat. Too many little bones. Ain’t nobody got time for that!”
“If it belongs to the kid, he wonât be doing that again”
Well, at least not a third time.
