The government convened this morning to discuss the controversial report on the "unauthorized neighborhoods." It accepted the report's principles - but not its recommended "methods of operation." The report, prepared by former State Prosecution attorney Talia Sasson, has caused a backlash against all the bodies involved in building "unauthorized outposts" in Judea and Samaria. The report purports to show a series of illegalities perpetrated by many different government offices and bodies that were involved in funding, constructing and providing services to budding Jewish neighborhoods in Judea and Samaria. Arutz-7 commentator Haggai Huberman noted, however, that Sasson incorrectly included all the...

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The Palestinian Authority on Monday criticized Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's order to remove four unauthorized settlement outposts under a U.S.-backed peace "road map" as nothing more than a publicity stunt. "I think the world is sick and tired of these public relations stunts -- Israelis moving a caravan here and a caravan there," Palestinian Negotiating Minister Saeb Erekat told reporters in the West Bank city of Ramallah. Two members of Sharon's cabinet said the government was moving too slowly in carrying out a commitment to remove unauthorized settlement outposts from occupied territory. The ministers spoke in...

Dec. 19, 2003 White House 'very pleased' with Sharon's speech By ASSOCIATED PRESS President George W. Bush's spokesman reacted warmly Friday to much of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's latest prescription for dealing with the Palestinians. <p>Speaking in London on Wednesday, President Bush said, "Israel should freeze settlement construction, dismantle unauthorized outposts, end the daily humiliation of the Palestinian people, and not prejudice final negotiations with the placement of walls and fences."</p>
<p>Happy Thanksgiving! It's time to carve up the turkey. It is, however, customary to kill the bird and drain its lifeblood before serving it. I find it strangely coincidental that every time Tony Blair is in trouble over the Iraq war, Bush runs to the rescue by donating Israel's lifeblood!</p>

Oct. 27, 2003 Government finances outposts to be dismantled under roadmap By MATTHEW GUTMAN The Defense Ministry confirmed Monday that it has allotted at least eight unauthorized outposts the services normally provided to legal settlements. Tens of similar unauthorized settlements were slated for demolition as little as three months ago under the all-but-abandoned road map for peace. In a letter to the residents of the outposts – some are populated...

Tourism Minister Benny Elon of the National Union said Monday night that the dismantling of outposts was a "surrender to American pressure" which is pressing Israel to implement the 'road map' peace plan. Elon added that outpost removal was not in Israel's national strategic interests. The decision to remove outposts, said Elon, "scorned" Israel's decision not to take any diplomatic steps until the terrorism ended. The Minister said he was planning to travel to settlement outposts scheduled to be removed Monday night in the West Bank.
