Nikki Haley will win the Washington, D.C., Republican presidential primary, netting her first victory of the GOP nominating process, Decision Desk HQ projects. Haley garnered 1,274 votes to former President Trump’s 676 with all precincts reporting, according to DDHQ. The win for the former United Nations ambassador breaks a streak of more than a half dozen victories for Trump to start out the GOP contests for the nomination. It’s a much-needed triumph for Haley to show she can top Trump somewhere, but she still has a long road ahead of her.
  • Far away from Trump's jail drama, Ron DeSantis and his family head to Iowa's 'Field of Dreams'

Ron DeSantis gripped a baseball, looked at his 5-year-old son, Mason, and lobbed him pitch after pitch. He grinned at Mason's hits and rolled his eyes when his own pitches came in too low or too high. “Bad pitch, buddy,” the Florida governor said after one errant throw. “That one was my fault.” DeSantis, who battles a reputation for being stiff and unfriendly, approached the field wearing a fleece campaign vest and long-sleeved shirt with his sleeves rolled up. The heat was starting to ease with sunset.

Joy Behar is a multimillionaire TV host, so it should come as no surprise that she remains oblivious to the plight of everyday Americans burdened by the weight of rising prices, not only of food but also healthcare, housing and gas. Yet it was nevertheless astonishing to see Behar go on at some length about how Joe Biden should be more popular with the American people because of how great the economy is, in particular the stock market. Jimmy and The Convo Couch host Craig Jardula discuss how out of touch Behar clearly is and why the stock market's performance...

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) is comparing former President Trump's election claims to those of the Chinese Communist Party, concluding “it’s very dangerous and damaging.” “When you listen to Donald Trump talk now, when you hear the language he's using now, it is essentially the same things that the Chinese Communist Party, for example, says about the United States and our democracy,” Cheney said on “The Axe Files” podcast, which was released on Monday. “When he says that our system doesn't work ... when he suggests that it's, you know, incapable of conveying the will of the people, you know, that...

Imagine General Dwight Eisenhower on June 6, 1944, speaking to the troops and after saying, “You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you,” he tosses in a, “But not Italians, or Irish, and certainly not any of you from California because Californians suck. I hope they get shot. When the bullets start flying, use those people as human shields.” How would that go over? Not well. Would you follow that guy into...

Gwyneth Paltrow admires the 'sense of entitlement' her teenage daughter Apple has developed about gender equality. In an interview with Adobe MAX, the actress, 48, described her joy at seeing how empowered her daughter had grown. 'By the time my daughter is in the workforce, like those girls are not going to stand for it,' Gwyneth gushed. 'When I see my daughter with her friends, they are so empowered. They have, and I mean this word in the best possible way, they have a sense of entitlement that's beautiful. 'It's not spoiled, it's like, "No, we are here for what...

If your name is Bill Gates, it’s safe to assume that you are not living paycheck to paycheck. So, his suggestion of closing down the entire economy for at least two months is of little consequence to him and his family. They won’t miss a mortgage payment or fret the MasterCard bill. The same can be said for many of the other experts who are recommending a nearly total shutdown of American commerce. The creators of the alarming models. The ones who daily speculate about the potential death toll. The ones who groaned when Dr. Oz suggested that hydroxychloroquine, a...

Broadway star Bette Midler thought it was a good idea to publicly salute housekeepers and express gratitude for her kitchen appliances — objects she claims she has gotten to know better as the coronavirus pandemic ravages the nation. “I never knew my appliances as well as I’m starting to know them,” the left-wing activist said. “So grateful to #Kenmore and #Maytag. This is no joke. I salute housekeepers around the globe, doing your best to keep your families well, safe and alive.”

When the 116th Congress convenes on Thursday, many of the newly elected members are bringing an anti-Trump agenda and the goal of fundamentally transforming America even farther to the left than Barack Obama tried to accomplish in his eight years in office. Here are 11 Democrats who were elected in the 2018 midterm elections on promises to resist President Donald Trump’s efforts to keep his campaign promises, from replacing Obamacare to building a wall on the United States border with Mexico to extracting the country from harmful trade and climate change agreements.

Last week was a bit interesting from the Senate Democrat side. The olive branch that was offered by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the new Senate Minority Leader, was blunt and straightforward to the incoming Trump White House. WeÂ’ll only work with you if you abandon the Republicans and adhere to 100 percent of what we want to do (via Real Clear Politics/CNN): CHUCK SCHUMER: I said, Mr. President-elect, you went after both the Democratic and Republican establishments when you ran. Here's why rural Ontario is fading and cities aren't The urban-rural divide is swiftly becoming one of the most pressing issues of economic policy in this century. From Europe to England to the United States and yes, here in Canada, the sweeping changes to physical landscapes have translated to sweeping changes in political landscapes. As David Reevely pointed out last week, Ontario’s urban centres have seen economic growth and recovery that the stretches of rural land separating those centres simply haven’t. There are multiple reasons for this, one being that Ontario’s municipalities have been practising a policy of intensification for...

As the reality of President-elect Donald Trump settled in very early Wednesday morning, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes summed up an explanation common to many on the left: The Republican nominee pulled ahead thanks to old-fashioned American racism. But the attempt to make Trump’s victory about racism appears to be at odds with what actually happened on Election Day. Consider the following facts. Twenty-nine percent of Latinos voted for Trump, per exit polls. Remarkably, despite the near-ubiquitous narrative that Trump would have deep problems with this demographic given his comments and position on immigration, this was a higher percentage of those who...

Barack Obama took a break from interfering in FBI investigations today to interfere with reality on ObamaCare. Speaking at a rally in Miami for Hillary Clinton, the president scoffed at Republican promises to repeal ObamaCare, and then insisted that most consumers won’t see premium increases in the exchanges at all. Mediate has the sound bite of that claim, but Obama’s string of nonsense should be read in context for full appreciation of his talents. Hillary Clinton cast Donald Trump as out of touch with the United States while campaigning Monday in Delaware, arguing that the Republican front-runner flies into states, gives speeches and then returns to the lap of luxury without listening to voters' problems. "Donald Trump says wages are too high in America and doesn't support raising the minimum wage and I have said, 'Come out of those towers named for yourself and actually talk and listen to people,'" Clinton said. "At some point, if you want to be president of the United States, you have to get familiar with the United States,...

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard by now that Hillary Clinton is running for president. Actually, even if you live under a rock you’ve probably heard that, or at least the collective squeal from the media before they slipped, satisfied, into their refractory period. On Sunday, the former first lady released a Benetton ad, er, I mean a campaign video announcing she hopes to be the “champion” of “everyday Americans.” Who qualifies as an “everyday American” remains to be seen – the the video offers images of representatives of every “group” in the progressive coalition. But someone who...

After six years in office, President Obama says his basketball skills went from "nothing but net" to nothing. "I’ll be honest with you: my game is a little broke, I've been a little busy," he told a crowd of students and faculty at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis on Friday, where he touted his new plan to give students who meet certain academic standards two free years of community college. "The risk-reward ratio starts shifting. The chances of an Achilles tear or an ACL injury is increasing each month, and then the satisfaction that I get from playing diminishes...
