Justice Samuel Alito has drawn attention for his fiery criticism of Supreme Court rulings, with some court watchers especially struck by the degree of barely concealed hostility he directed at fellow conservative justices. Alito voiced opposition last week as the court, now with six conservative justices and three liberals, handed a narrow win to a Catholic charity and spared ObamaCare from a GOP challenge. The two decisions signaled the court may not be moving as far or as fast to the right as some expected. “My guess is that he's frustrated with what appear to be political compromises to reach...

There’s no question that animosity exists on both sides of the political spectrum, but have you noticed how personal it has become for many on the left? It is disturbing how intolerant and filled with rage leftist extremists have become, and how many more people are falling into the category of leftist extremism. But what concerns me as much as this pattern of ill will and abuse from leftists is that it is unchecked by their peers and often applauded. Instead of encouraging people to appeal to the better angels of their nature, they are beckoning them to summon their...

Stealth jihad in a stealth coup. Obama campaigned on one thing and ushered in subjugation to Islamic supremacism and sharia. These delusional blowhards who know nothing are driving the bus — right off the cliff. The State Department better put down that hookah pipe, or whatever it is they’re smoking. This is the poison fruit of Islamic infiltration of the DoS. Department Twitter account issues picture promoting Sharia law under guise of promoting free speech. Early Wednesday morning, the State Department issued a tweet that included a picture promoting Sharia law over “man made law.” The image was captioned, “Muslims...

As the GOP stumbles around Washington trying to be the party of Herbert Hoover, it's sad to see so many Republicans drifting so far and so fast from the Reagan model that helped pave the way for the great, non-inflationary economic and jobs expansion of the past 25 years. Sen. Lindsey Graham, (R., S.C.) threatens China with a 28% tariff for daring to tie the yuan to the dollar. Rep. Tom Tancredo, running for president, is miffed at President Bush for trying to design comprehensive immigration-reform legislation. The president wants a guest-worker program that could help alleviate border problems in...

NEW YORK -- Vice President Dick Cheney's feud with Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel was perpetuated Wednesday when the 75-year-old congressman said Cheney "ought to be ashamed of himself" for a remark about his age. Months of verbal attacks from Rangel turned into a back and forth on Monday when the 64-year-old vice president said Rangel is "losing it," later adding that "Charlie is a lot older than I am, and it shows." After an appearance at City Hall on Wednesday, Rangel was asked when the dispute would die. "I think it ends when he apologizes for attacking me as a...

An all-star high school athlete, Wayne Besen couldn't imagine entering adulthood keeping something so significant as his sexual orientation a secret from his mom and dad.

He had successfully navigated the obstacle course many of us confronted as gay teens -- feeling confused and afraid about being gay; getting stuck on a merry-go-round of denial, shame, secrecy and damaging attempts to change; and then slowly embracing your sexual orientation as a treasured part of your identity, as unchangeable as eye color or height.

U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. called Wednesday for the resignation of Metra Chairman Jeff Ladd, accusing him of being biased against the south suburbs and catering instead to affluent, largely white communities in the west and northwest. Metra's latest plan--for a $1.1 billion line that would link Joliet to the northwest suburbs via O'Hare Airport --should be called the "White Line," said Jackson, echoing complaints in recent days from several south suburban legislators. "Metra has spent more than a billion dollars to build new service to the far reaches of the north, west and southwest suburbs in recent years," said...
