The Democrat running for Congress in Maryland's First District will receive the endorsement of the Republican incumbent he is hoping to replace.

Not at all a shocker there. He was always closer to the Democrats than the Republicans anyway. That’s why Andy Harris knocked him off in the primary.
Hmmmmmm. A disgruntled politician. You gotta love it.
ping!
Go Andy Harris!
Wayne Gilchrest can do any number of things that the mods won’t allow me to say on FR.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Go Dr. Harris!
Wow! This is unbelievable!!! I am SHOCKED!!!! This came out of nowhere!!!!! No one expected this!!!!
snicker...
For instance a few years back he declared a poll indicated that his constituents would rather have the US budget balanced than have their taxes reduced.
This is of course liberal spin, and even an excuse to raise taxes. Cut the taxes and YOU WILL CUT THE SPENDING; and subsequently take the money out of the hands of the federal criminals. But his arguments would not, and did not present that side of the equation, - no mention, nada.
The former, of course, is exactly how the "issue" is presented by the LEFT - "we must raise taxes."
I never saw Wayne Gilchrest as an overtly insidious, or malicious politician, unlike the Clintons, or say Chuck Schumer. But he was, and is, misdirected by the obsession with centralized government, and the denial of the honesty of allocating decisions to the most individual heirarchies of society, individual citizen, family, community, municipality, state. The centralization, was, and apparently is, his "professional" identity, I guess.
With connections still back there I can see how Andy Harris prevailed, that is, the basic rural, conservative, folk see through the BS of big government.
But that is not the majority of voters, even in that district, and he (Harris) has little chance in the general election.
For me, this is the paragon for the urbanized, yuppie-ized, United States.
Andy Harris has alot of support on the West side of the bay. I know that I am looking forward to voting for him.
Lots of conservatives at the top of the bay too. But I am getting tired of looking at that Kratovil sign on the corner in front of the old Walmart that has been there for months with no evidence of local Harris signs (I may have missed them, but if so, they are not striking).
So much liberal RINO scum in our party. Democrat trojan horses, every last one.
MD-1 and NY-13 greatly concern me. We may lose both, even if McCain performs strongly.
What an idiot. Sore loser much, Gilchrest?
Well, what were you expecting from a party that nominated one of Soros' Trojan horses and a left-wing charlatan (who's actually a closet Democrat) for POTUS?
Dial R for RINO.
I think we’ll hold MD-1. Harris is a first tier candidate and he has more than twice as much money as the rodent. Also, too, the 1st and 6th districts were designed to corral as many Republicans into them as possible to keep the previously competitive 2nd and 8th districts rodent.
Traitor.
I commend Gilcrap in fact for at least being honest and not just working behind the scenes to undermine the party. Adios to bad trash.
“The incumbent has criticized Harris as being “too conservative” for his district.”
Wa? And the rat’s not too liberal and a ratlike for a GOP seat?
It’s a Republican district, and now, for the first time since 1978, it will have one. Even the gay Bob Bauman was more one than this cretin.
I can’t post what I am thinking on this forum. But I know your hear my thoughts.
Give him a break, the scotch made him gay right? :p
