BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS • Police early Wednesday morning said they haven't been able to find a 13-year-old girl suspected of shooting and critically wounding a couple in their 70s during a beauty supply store robbery the day before.The girl was considered armed and dangerous. She apparently ran from the store carrying a pistol. A former CIA officer has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for leaking details of a secret mission to thwart Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Ex-CIA Officer Indicted for Leaking Classified Info to New York Slimes Reporter Jeffrey Sterling, a former CIA officer, was indicted today for leaking classified information to New York Times reporter James Risen. The indictment shows that the federal government had access to their e-mail and phone contacts going back several years. Sterling served on the Iran desk of the CIA in the 1990s, and oversaw a classified program aimed at sabotaging the development of its nuclear programming. He left the CIA in 2000 and sued for racial discrimination (he is African American) in a case that went all the way...

A former CIA officer was arrested on Thursday on charges of illegally disclosing national defense information about Iran to a New York Times reporter who wrote a book. The U.S. Justice Department said Jeffrey Sterling, 43, was charged with six counts of unauthorized disclosure of national defense information and one count of unlawfully keeping national defense information, mail fraud, unauthorized conveyance of government property and obstructing justice.

For a group of Tea Party activists, their mission to change the direction of the United States continues every Saturday at highways K and N in O'Fallon. Since 2009, members of the K&N Patriots have waved signs from 10 a.m to noon at the busy intersection, usually along the east side of Highway K. The often hand-made signs usually touch on familiar conservative themes — repeal "Obamacare" and President Barack Obama, restore liberty, protect the right to bear arms, cut government spending and remember veterans. Some 200 patriotic citizens lined one side of Highway K early this afternoon at the intersection of Highways K & N in O’Fallon, Mo. Their signs told stories of their passionate disdain for socialism, government-run health care and an out-of-control federal government. Across the street, barely a dozen individuals carried signs in support of the so-called “Public Option” and other liberal agenda items. Rallies like the one today have become a weekly event, drawing as many as 300 conservative, Constitution-loving citizens weekly and outnumbering those with opposing views more than 10 to 1.
