President Obama urged reluctant lawmakers Saturday to quickly approve nearly $50 billion in emergency aid to state and local governments, saying the money is needed to avoid "massive layoffs of teachers, police and firefighters" and to support the still-fragile economic recovery. Jeff Sessions, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee Republican, Robert Bauer, counsel to Obama, implied the president may use executive privilege to hide some memos Elena Kagan wrote when she served in the Clinton White House. “President Obama does not intend to assert executive privilege over any of the documents requested by the Committee,” Bauer writes. “Of course, President Clinton also has an interest in these records, and his representative is reviewing them now,” he adds. In his press conference this week, the President has the audacity to stand before the America people (on television at least) and insult the flag and the country for which it stands. This incompetent pretender has the nerve to dishonor our flag, this flag for which so much American blood has been spilt, by refusing to stand beside it. Unforgivable!

As he professes to want to reduce the dangerous budget deficit, Obama brings to mind the hapless engineers at Toyota who find that their vehicles accelerate whether or not the driver wants them to. It appears that no matter how hard Obama jams on the brakes with his new-found commitment to deficit reduction -- having already almost doubled the deficit in one year -- the level of red ink just seems inexorably to rise.
