[Catholic Caucus] Cardinal Fernández Says Female Diaconate Will be Studied ‘More Intensively’Cardinal Victor Fernández, the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, announced that the female diaconate will be the subject of a more in-depth study under the impetus of the proposals sent to the commission assigned to this task. He also stated that this question, although Pope Francis considers it not “mature,” is not a “closed issue.”To delve deeper into the differences between holy orders and authority in order to be able to entrust laywomen with leadership functions in the Church is, according to Fernández, the...

On March 29, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rolled out a new electric truck mandate to increase sales of electric semitrucks from 2027 through 2032. The cost of electric trucks are typically two to three times more expensive than diesel trucks, according to the Institute for Energy Research. Truckers will also have to invest $620 billion...

The gift delivers $4.5 billion in debt relief to teachers, firefighters, and other service workers who have been dutifully meeting loan repayment obligations for over a decade, the Hill reports.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) signed a number of gun control bills on Wednesday, one of which requires licensed gun dealers to post signs warning would-be buyers about alleged dangers associated with firearms. Spectrum News 1 posted about the new law, which forces gun dealers’ signs to “[include] a paragraph explaining how guns in the home increase the risk of suicide, death during a domestic dispute or unintentional death to children.” The sign “must also include contact information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.” North County Now noted five other gun controls were signed by Hochul, which do everything...

WASHINGTON — Ron Wyden, Oregon's senior U.S. senator, introduced legislation Thursday that would overhaul the U.S. Supreme Court and "restore public trust" in the institution, his office said in a statement. The "Judicial Modernization and Transparency Act" would make a number of significant changes to the highest court and the federal circuit courts beneath it, including an overall expansion of the court itself. "The Supreme Court is in crisis and bold solutions are necessary to restore the public trust," Wyden said.

In a week full of bill signings, Governor Gavin Newsom approved several dozen that relate to guns, some of which focused on red flag laws. A red flag law gives courts the authority to temporarily take someone’s firearms if people near them — like immediate family, employers, roommates — have reason to believe that person is dangerous to themselves or others. Newsom signed one bill which extends that red flag law to people who commit or threaten hate-based violence based on extremist ideology. Bill sponsor and Democratic Assembly member Rick Chavez Zbur told the Senate Committee on Public Safety back...

If it were not for the Jews, Jerusalem which be just another ancient city buried under the sand and forgotten. However, ever since King David’s time, around 1000 B.C., the Jewish Bible has kept alive the Jewish commitment to that city, especially the area around the Western Wall, for 3,000 years. Christianity, too, has a tie to the ancient city that cannot be erased by time, for it was there that the corporeal Jesus walked, preached, suffered, was buried, and was resurrected. Mohammed, by contrast, was never in Jerusalem. He just dreamed about it. That was enough, though, for a...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a first-of-its-kind “deepfake” law after conservatives created a powerful and hilarious parody video mocking Kamala Harris’s candidacy. In a post on the X platform, Newsom confirmed that he had signed the bill after Elon Musk shared the anti-Kamala video using an altered version of her voice. I just signed a bill to make this illegal in the state of California. You can no longer knowingly distribute an ad or other election communications that contain materially deceptive content — including deepfakes. https://t.co/VU4b8RBf6N — Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) September 17, 2024 Politico has all the details: The...

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that his administration was "working that out now" when asked if the U.S. would lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of long range weapons in its war against Russia. The U.S. has been reluctant to supply or sanction the use of weapons that could strike targets deep inside in Russia for fear it would escalate the conflict. Kyiv's other allies have been supplying weapons, but with restrictions on how and when they can be used inside Russia, out of concern such strikes could prompt retaliation that draws NATO countries into the war or provokes...

Since leftist politicians and bureaucrats discovered how much control they could exert over the public in the name of a so-called “health emergency,” many Americans and freedom-loving individuals around the world have been anticipating the announcement of a new supposed crisis to replace the COVID-19 pandemic. This week, Pope Francis seemed to signal what that emergency might be with his proclamation about monkeypox, or as the media insists we should now call it, mpox. According to the Daily Mail: The Pope has declared the deadly outbreak of mpox a ‘global health emergency’ as the first batch of vaccines are set...

[Catholic Caucus] Will the Vatican Ban the Apparitions of Akita? In a Vatican statement issued on August 2, DDF prefect Cardinal Victor Fernadez said that the Puerto Rican missionary Elenita de Jesus "is not the Virgin Mary." What’s the big disclosure? Elenita never called herself the Virgin Mary. Fernandez' claim is true and the claim apparently was made to give credibility to the Vatican's new norms for evaluating apparitions because the DDF plan is to denounce the authentic Marian apparitions of our time. Fernandez has made it clear that any revelation that speaks of God's justice or that challenges the hierarchy...
