In January, astronomers revealed evidence for the potential existence of another planet in the solar system. Researchers suggest that if this world — dubbed Planet Nine — exists, it could be about 10 times Earth's mass and orbit the sun at a distance about 500 times the distance from the Earth to the sun. Previous research suggested that Planet Nine would possess a highly tilted orbit compared with the relatively thin, flat zone in which the eight official planets circle the sun. This led scientists to investigate whether Planet Nine's slant might help explain other tilting seen elsewhere in the...

What would you say Donald Trump's emotional age is? The reason I ask is because of his very questionable, even childish behavior. Everyone he disagrees with is called a "loser" or "stupid" or "failing". This is the language children use in criticizing one another. Instead of responding to each other's arguments, children just give blanket assertions that the others around them are bad. That is exactly what Trump does. Ted Cruz may say he disagrees with Donald Trump's longstanding support for partial birth abortion, but Donald Trump will just respond that Ted Cruz is "dumb" or "unlikeable". It's no different...

A fight that escalated to gunfire between rival biker gangs in a Waco, Texas, restaurant parking lot today left nine people dead, police said. Eighteen people were taken from the scene to hospitals, mostly for gunshot and stab wounds, Waco Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton said at a news conference. Everyone involved was a gang member, police said. The violence began as a fight between "criminal biker gangs" at the Twin Peaks Restaurant in the Central Texas Market Place early this afternoon, Swanton said. The fight then spilled into the parking lot where gang members fired at each other, Swanton said....

Consider the lame-duck descent confirmed. 1. The Post Office Get ready to imagine a world without the Post Office. They are so deeply in financial trouble that there is probably no way to sustain it long term. Email, Fed Ex, and UPS have just about wiped out the minimum revenue needed to keep the Post Office alive. Most of your mail every day is junk mail and bills. 2. The Check Britain is already laying the groundwork to do away with check by 2018. It costs the financial system billions of dollars a year to process checks. Plastic cards and online transactions will lead to...

The Nine Ways of Prayer of St. Dominic About the Nine Ways of PrayerThe following was written by an anonymous Bolognese author, sometime between A.D. 1260 and A.D. 1288, whose source of information was, among other followers of St. Dominic, Sister Cecilia of Bologna's Monastery of St. Agnes. Sister Cecilia had been given the habit by St. Dominic himself. "The Nine Ways of Prayer" has been sometimes printed as a supplement to "The Life of St. Dominic" by Theodoric of Apoldia, though they aren't an actual part of that work. The Nine Ways of Prayer of St. Dominic Holy teachers...

It gained early success on the awards circuit, but the star-studded musical "Nine" will likely be pulled back from hundreds of smaller U.S. cities, after disappointing box office and lackluster reviews. After playing in 1,400 screens last weekend, the Weinstein Company, which is behind "Nine", said on Tuesday it expects the movie to play in 800-900 screens in big U.S. cities in coming weeks.

TOKYO - Nine people in two groups were found asphyxiated in sealed cars, apparently the latest cases of group suicides that have surged in Japan, police said Friday. Six bodies _ five men and one woman in their 20s _ were discovered early Friday in a car in Chichibu, about 50 miles northwest of Tokyo, said Ichiro Fukumoto, a spokesman with Chichibu police. Fukumoto said three charcoal burners were still smoking in the car when the bodies were found, and the windows had been sealed with tape. Authorities thought the six met over the Internet before dying together in a...

A couple and their seven children were massacred yesterday in southern Thailand, where a Muslim insurgency has killed more than 1,000 people in two years. Officials said around 30 Islamist militants surrounded a house in the village of Bo-Ngo, firing bullets and grenades before shooting those inside with handguns. The victims were Luteng Arwarebueza, 44, his wife, and their seven children, aged from one to 20. Nine other people in nearby houses were injured. The governor of Narathiwat province, Pracha Tearat, said that Mr Arwarebueza was a former rebel who quit the insurgency five months ago. He "had received constant...

The Assembly speaker and Senate Rules Committee jointly name one trustee, and the state Personnel Board selects one. The state treasurer, controller and director of the Department of Personnel Administration also serve on the board overseeing...

Goodbye, Kitty? If a firefighter from La Crosse gets his way, stray cats in Wisconsin could legally be blown from here to feline eternity. Not surprisingly, the proposal to allow the shooting of free-roaming cats has horrified cat lovers nationwide. "This really crosses the line in human and cat relations," said Ted O'Donnell, owner of a pet supply store in Madison. He has set up a website called dontshootthecat.com. "I remember when firefighters used to rescue cats -- not shoot them."

Our left-leaning U. S. Supreme Court ("leaning?" It's almost all the way over) has rejected the appeal of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore to keep the Ten Commandments memorial in the Alabama Judicial Building. Was anyone surprised? Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum and author of Feminist Fantasies , noted that Justice Ruth Ginsburg has confessed that she and her fellow leftists on the Supreme Court are "'becoming more open to international law perspectives,' looking to United Nations treaties and foreign courts for guidance in deciding gay rights, death penalty and affirmative action cases." When the Supreme Court endorsed racial...
