CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Republican Evan Jenkins has defeated 19-term Democratic Rep. Nick Rahall in West Virginia for the District 3 U.S. House race, the AP reports.

The campaign between Democratic incumbent Nick Rahall and Republican challenger Evan Jenkins for U.S. Congress, representing West Virginia's 3rd District seat, was one of the most anticipated and hotly contested races this fall. It was also one of the most highly financed, with an estimated $9 million spent on the campaigns. The Associated Press called a victory for Jenkins with about 80 percent of the votes reported Nov. 4.

Push them to decide, make them show their real face and Democrats will line up against America every time. It’s usually the kids that speak out of turn. You know, the three year old who runs around the Thanksgiving table spewing four letter words; the same ones he hears at home. The Democrat Party is loaded with “kids” of all ages who don’t understand why Democrats get elected. They think their candidates remain in office by telling the truth to people. They think Democrats stand up and talk about socialism and hatred for Israel, America and capitalism to get elected....

Three high-profile Democrats from West Virginia are not planning to attend the Democratic National Convention in September. Sen. Joe Manchin, Rep. Nick Rahall and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin have opted not to go to the convention in Charlotte, according to a West Virginia Democratic Party press release.
