CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Republican Evan Jenkins has defeated 19-term Democratic Rep. Nick Rahall in West Virginia for the District 3 U.S. House race, the AP reports.

Wow. Nick Joe Rahall was like the first freshman elected to the House with the help of Jim Wright's PAC, back in 1976, which ultimately made the difference in a three way race for majority leader of the U.S. House after that election, which Wright won on the second ballot by one vote, turned over by his manager Charlie Wilson.
It became the model for all leadership PAC's and ultimately made Wright Speaker, though for less than a single term when he resigned in 1989, after ten solid years as House majority leader.
Truly a Sea Change... Long overdue. Wish the GOP picked up more seats, though.
