A movie rental service launched yesterday will beam new-release, high-definition, pay-per-view movies in 29 cities, including the metropolitan area, providing yet another alternative for movie viewing. MovieBeam, developed over four years by The Walt Disney Co., will broadcast the movie to an electronic device that can store the content for future viewing at $3.99 for new releases, $1.99 for library titles and a $1 surcharge for high-definition movies, the company said.
