I know President Trump’s work with China led to the good behavior of North Korea. Plus, the fact that Trump showed North Korea the United States would not take their threats sitting down was a huge factor in their backing off of even a missile test. I believed late last night that we would not strike NK for only a missile test, but if they harmed a hair on our back, or South Korea, or Japan, a war would be our only choice. I praise God this did not happen. I wonder if we are about to see a decrease...

Exultation over the new MOAB—perhaps the ugliest and most stupid of new weapons in the U.S. armory—reveals a poverty of intellect and heart in the country. A clumsy multi-ton monster bomb tested in Florida last week has no practical war purpose other than terror, in a military whose signal achievement in the last decade has been to make smaller weapons unerringly accurate. The MOAB is the natural result of allowing munitions engineers to run amok, a design by the aggressively mediocre who in a better time and place would be sent into early retirement for the good of the taxpayer....

The Air Force yesterday tested for the first time the military's largest conventional bomb, the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB). The Pentagon labeled as a success the explosion at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

The 21,000-pound bomb, creating a huge mushroom cloud, could be used in the Pentagon's "shock and awe" war strategy to bring a quick Iraqi surrender. The satellite-guided bomb was not dropped from a bomber, but from the back door of a four-engine C-130 cargo plane.

March 12, 2003 Largest Conventional Bomb Dropped in a Test in FloridaBy THOM SHANKER ASHINGTON, March 11 — The Air Force today successfully tested in Florida the largest conventional bomb in the American arsenal, a munition so massive that its 18,000 pounds of high explosives must be dropped from the rear of a cargo plane, officials said. The bomb explodes a few feet above the ground, and is designed to send a devastating wave of fire and blast hundreds of yards to kill troops, flatten trees, knock over structures, collapse cave entrances and, in general, demoralize those far beyond the...

Fearsome firepower ... the US hopes the massive superbomb will terrify Iraqi troops THIS is the fearsome superbomb that will help destroy Iraqi tyrant Saddam Hussein’s evil regime. It is the world’s most powerful non-nuclear weapon and the blast from its 9½ TONS of high explosive will be heard 40 MILES away. The 30ft-long bomb zaps everything within a mile and is so devastating that video of its first test — carried out last night — will be beamed to Iraqi troops to terrify them into surrender. Detonation unleashes a 10,000ft mushroom cloud, like an atomic bomb. The device is called MOAB,...

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE -- A new conventional bomb whose blast releases shock waves that can be felt miles away is scheduled to be tested at a range here, possibly within a week, officials said Saturday. The 21,000-pound bomb is known as a MOAB, or "massive ordnance air burst." A bomb known as a "daisy cutter," the 15,000-pound BLU-82, is currently billed as the world's most powerful non-nuclear explosive. Eglin spokesman Jake Swinson would not give a date for when the bomb would be tested, but said Saturdaythatit would probably be within a week. Pentagon officials declined to comment on...

Folks in southeastern Utah are up in arms -- pun intended -- about an enormous new bomb the Pentagon reportedly will use in any U.S.-led war on Iraq. Its name? The MOAB. Military sources tell ABC News the experimental, 21,000-pound bomb, about the size of a car, is similar to a small nuclear weapon. Its nickname is an acronym for "massive ordnance air burst" and not a reference to Utah's mountain-biking magnet, but that doesn't make Dave Sakrison feel much better. "They could have picked a better name," grumbled the Moab mayor, who plans to e-mail Utah's congressional delegation to...

February 27, 2003: The U.S. Air Force is developing a new, 2nd generation, ten ton Fuel Air Explosive (FAS) bomb. It will replace the older "Daisy Cutter" FAS bomb developed during the 1960s. This was a 7.5 ton Fuel Air Explosive for clearing landing zones in the Vietnam jungle. Fuel Air Explosives work by dropping a bomb that is actually a large aerosol dispenser. When the FAS "explodes" it first dispenses a large cloud of flammable material (anything like gasoline or propane will work). The cloud is then ignited and huge explosion results. There's one drawback, the size and density...
