For years, a peaceful, million-dollar farm in Indiana hid a dark secret: It was a serial killer’s playground. When cops finally raided Herb Baumeister’s 18-acre property in Westfield, north of Indianapolis, they uncovered some 10,000 pieces of human remains — mostly crushed and burned skeletal fragments of the teenage boys and young men whom he had abducted and murdered in the 1980s and ’90s. Nearly 30 years after Baumeister killed himself while on the run from police, authorities are still sifting through the remains and identifying victims.

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. — Sources tell WGN the body of Andrew “AJ” Freund, a 5-year-old boy missing from Crystal Lake, has been found. Earlier Wednesday, investigators returned to the family home and removed several items, including a shovel, a mattress, two lawn bags and a large bin. The family dog was also removed from the home by Animal Control officials. DETROIT, MI -- Detroit police have arrested Monique Dillard-Bothuell, the stepmother of 12-year-old Charlie Bothuell V, on a probation violation; and Child Protective Services removed two children, 4 and 10 months, from his father's Detroit townhouse Thursday, Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens confirms. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office charged Dillard-Bothuell with illegally carrying a concealed firearm and purchasing a pistol without a permit in 2013. ARCADIA, Mo. — A 3-year-old boy was found in remarkably good condition Wednesday, 50 hours after he wandered away from his home and became lost in the rugged hills of Missouri's Mark Twain National Forest. An Amber Alert was issued around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday for a 5-year old child who was reported missing since around 4:30 p.m. Anthony Turner was last seen riding his bicycle near County Road 600 and Farm-to-Market Road 917 south of Burleson in rural Johnson County.
