Hope this vanity to General/ Chat is not too intrusive. I love Tucker Carlson, his analysis and his bravery, to the extent he's the only Fox show I watch every night. However, Tucker's opposition to any possible (even imagined) American military action is extreme. Tucker is against America going to war with Russia over Ukraine. That's ok, but so is everyone, including the Biden Administration. Biden made it clear the American/ NATO reaction to a Russian invasion, would be limited to sanctions. Yesterday, everyone but Tucker heard Biden practically invite Russia into Ukraine. But Tucker still claimed on yesterday's show...

In an interview with Wired magazine, Mark Zuckerberg revealed Facebook’s political agenda — he wants to curb free speech and free expression on the platform in exchange for “safety.” From the Wired interview: I think at the heart of a lot of these issues we face are tradeoffs between real values that people care about. You know, when you think about issues like fake news or hate speech, right, it’s a tradeoff between free speech and free expression and safety and having an informed community. These are all the challenging situations that I think we are working to try to...

Her relative, Gabriela Brandão, a freelance makeup artist from Florianópolis, Brazil, made the discovery after taking a look at the great-grandmother’s figurine, and realising something wasn’t quite right. Following her gut instinct, Gabriela searched online for the figure – and found one exactly identical to the great-grandmother’s. However, there was only one problem – the figure wasn’t listed under ‘Saint Anthony’, it was in fact listed under ‘Elrond’. Oops.

Carpet bombing, also known as saturation bombing, is a large aerial bombing done in a progressive manner to inflict damage in every part of a selected area of land.[1][2][3][4] The phrase evokes the image of explosions completely covering an area, in the same way that a carpet covers a floor. Carpet bombing is usually achieved by dropping many unguided bombs. The term obliteration bombing is sometimes used to describe especially intensified bombing with the intention of destroying a city or a large part of the city.[5] The term area bombing refers to indiscriminate bombing of an area,[5] and also encompasses...

President Barack Obama does not believe his temporary amnesty program for illegal immigrant children has exacerbated the border crisis even though the number of illegal immigrant kids crossing the border spiked the year after he unilaterally enacted the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2012. In fact, Obama thinks programs like DACA and a comprehensive amnesty bill are ways to solve the border crisis. Addressing the press Wednesday after meeting with Texas Governor Rick Perry to discuss the border crisis in Dallas, Obama, when asked if programs like DACA have caused or contributed to the crisis,

During a rant on his radio show Tuesday, Glenn Beck told his audience that he prayed to God that Russian President Vladimir Putin would die. It sounds harsh, but Beck seems to believe that what Putin is doing in Russia essentially amounts to starting World War III. As part of his outburst, Beck also mentioned that the unrest in Russia would soon spread to Europe. “I’ve never prayed for the Lord to take anybody before, but I have started praying with my family last night that the Lord calls Mr. Putin home soon,” Beck said. One of the ways that...

March 20, 2012 By John Scalzi A friend of mine is a physician who wants to speak about transvaginal ultrasounds but whose position makes it precarious to speak publicly about it. So I’m letting this doctor borrow my site for an entry to speak anonymously on the matter. Obviously, I will vouch for the doctor being a doctor and being qualified to speak on the subject. Update, 9:14pm: This post is being linked to far and wide, so we’re getting lots of new readers and commenters. It’s important that before you comment you read the site disclaimer and comment policy....

It's fairly well known by now how Jon Stewart gave a big hug to Fox News viewers... (Video where he says Fox News viewers are "misinformed" is embedded at the original post here) So he huffed, and he puffed, but did he blow the house down? If the Fox News response to this (here) isn't convincing enough then today Politifact, not exactly a lapdog for the right, says........no. They rated his claim "false," which according to their rating system, leaves no room deference to Stewart that he is even a little right. He's a sharp guy, very sharp....like, a hot...

Here's the link to an inevitable, IMO, attack on President Bush's Yalta comments from an insignificant wannabe "journalist" seeking some modicum of relevance in a world that has left him behind: http://www.lmtribune.com/05102005/opinions/254342.php

Putin: Ally or Terrorist? by William F. Jasper Counting Vladimir Putin as an ally against terrorism ignores his career in the murderous KGB/FSB and his ongoing support for terrorist regimes and organizations. ‘‘Lena Goncharuk, aged 38, said that she was the only one to survive out of a group of six who were ordered out of the cellar where they had been hiding and shot at point blank range. Resting in her hospital bed, her voice barely rising above a whisper, she said she had survived only by pretending to be dead." So reported Paul Wood from the Chechen border...

Sue Niederer wants some answers. She wants to know why her son, Army 2nd Lt. Seth Dvorin, was killed Tuesday in Iraq. And she wants to know why the 24-year-old newlywed, who was trained in air defense artillery, was ordered to clear an area of homemade mines and bombs just before his death. "He was supposed to be defusing a bomb, but my son was never trained to defuse a bomb," Niederer said yesterday in her home in Hopewell Township. "He may have died in vain." Dvorin's sister, Rebekah Dvorin, said Army officers told the family Tuesday night that a...

First, please forgive me if I posted this question in the wrong place or with the wrong settings. It's just a stupid question. I was out washing my car when a neighbor (who I don't know too well, but there is no ill history) stopped by and said it was illegal for me to back the car into the garage! He claimed the fumes (CO I suppose) would get into the garage and harm people. He says he wasn't going to "turn me in or anything," just "letting me know." I've never heard of anything like this and a quick...
