Australia is seeking a 10-year Through-Life-Support arrangement from the United States for 24 MH-60R helicopters. The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, in its notification to Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Australia, said the arrangement would include provisions of associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of $1.6 billion. Australia in July had requested the sale of 24 MH-60Rs, manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft, for $2.1 billion. "The proposed sale will provide Australia the resources necessary to properly maintain its 24 MH-60R helicopters," DSCA said. "Australia, which already has S-70B helicopters in its inventory, will have...

Denmark is eyeing the purchase of 12 MH-60R Seahawk Multi-Mission Helicopters under the Foreign Military Sales program. The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, in its notification to Congress, said the sale of the helicopters, associated parts, equipment and logistical support for them is worth about $2 billion. "This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a NATO ally which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political and economic stability in Europe," it said.

Their $33 million helicopters are new. There’s an aircraft-carrier briefing room with their name on the door now. And they get extra parking spaces on the multimillion-dollar real estate of the carrier flight deck. All the attention feels a little odd, Navy helicopter pilots say. “We’re not used to being the story,” said Cmdr. Ken Strong, executive officer of HSM-77, a San Diego-based squadron of MH-60R Seahawks. It’s a good time to be flying helicopters for the Navy. Long in the shadow of the jet jockeys — no one has ever made a movie about the rotor-blade community with Tom...

AUSTRALIA'S military chiefs favour the US over Europe in a planned $4 billion naval combat helicopter buy that is generating high-level concern among senior government ministers and local defence industry leaders. In a classified submission sent to defence ministers John Faulkner and Greg Combet, the military chiefs have opted for the US Navy's MH-60R Seahawk as the best choice for the Royal Australian Navy's new rotary wing anti-submarine warfare platform. The military chiefs favour an early decision on the Sikorsky MH-60R, arguing that it represents a cheaper, risk-free solution for Australia compared with its competitor, the European NH90 naval frigate...
