Rochester police have arrested the man wanted for the beating death last week of his girlfriend in the Beechwood neighborhood. Police say suspect Walter Balkum had already been arrested for assaulting the woman this spring, and he was wearing an electronic monitor until five days before the killing of Melikah Bruner. Police say a judge removed the monitor at the request of Balkum's lawyer, who argued it impeded Balkum's ability to get a job.
