Twitter suspended several high-profile journalists Thursday evening who have been covering the company and Elon Musk. The suspensions come a day after Twitter changed its policies around accounts that track private jets, including one owned by Elon Musk. The accounts of Ryan Mac of The New York Times, Donie O'Sullivan of CNN, Drew Harwell of The Washington Post, Matt Binder of Mashable, Micah Lee of The Intercept and independent journalists Aaron Rupar, Keith Olbermann and Tony Webster had all been suspended as of Thursday evening. The Twitter account for Mastodon, a platform billed as an alternative, was also suspended early...

You don't have to wait to change the world. It appears graduating high school senior Paxton Smith knows that well: The class valedictorian didn't waste time or mince words when giving her commencement speech in Texas on Sunday. Instead of delivering a pre-approved speech on teen media use, D Magazine reported, she used her platform to decry a bill Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently signed that bans abortion in the state at six weeks, a time when most people don't know they're pregnant. While her voice shakes at first in the video above, Smith gains confidence as she goes on....

In a quip destined to be one of the most memorable of Thursday night's vice presidential debate, Joe Biden jabbed Paul Ryan for seemingly comparing his political chops to those of the late President John F. Kennedy. Ryan was in the process of arguing that it's possible to cut tax rates while keeping in place tax preferences for middle class Americans and growing the economy — something he said has been done before — when Biden cut him off. "You can cut tax rates by 20% and still preserve these important preferences for middle class taxpayers," said Ryan, who was...

An Australian teenager who travelled to Syria has had his passport cancelled by the government, according to his lawyer. Oliver Bridgeman, from Toowoomba in Queensland, was reported missing by his parents in March 2015 after they thought he was spending time in Bali. Instead, the teenager journeyed on to war-torn Syria where his lawyer said he had been engaged in humanitarian work... Immigration Minister Peter Dutton defended the government's decision, telling ABC News those who travel to Syria put Australia's military staff and personnel at risk... The government has the power to cancel an Australian passport when a person "might...

The first time I seriously tried to use the Apple Watch was to board a plane on a recent cross-country trip. The experience showed the promise of wearable devices, but it also revealed there are challenges to solve before smartwatches are worth buying for anyone other than tech enthusiasts eager to try the latest gadget. I previously read that I’d be able to call up my boarding pass on the Apple Watch, so I opened the United Airlines app by tapping its logo in the app menu. But the process was a bit more complicated than I thought. The app...

A dad has been incorrectly accused of being a pedophile on Facebook by a woman he doesn't know. The woman is now mortified and begging for forgiveness. Both say they are "devastated" by the events surrounding the misunderstanding. The moral of the story: Don't post stupid things on social media.

San Francisco-based crowdfunding website Indiegogo has allowed a fundraising campaign for the former South Carolina police officer who fatally shot Walter Scott. A campaign called the Michael T. Slager Defense Fund has at press time raised $1,250 of a $5,000 goal with 58 days left. 45 people have contributed money so far. Indiegogo “allows anyone, anywhere to fund ideas that matter to them and just like other open platforms — such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter — we don’t judge the content of campaigns as long as they are in compliance with our Terms of Use," a representative told Mashable....

Question: When is a tech news site actually a public relations arm for a bloodthirsty terror group? Answer: when that tech news website is called Mashable. Consider a couple of their recent stories, designed to garner sympathy for actual bloodthirsty war criminals (no links for obvious reasons; simply search for the headline and you'll find it if you decide you prefer to read Hamas marketing material): • 'Am I Going to Die, Daddy?' The Child in Gaza Asked by Jon Snow • U.N. Official Warns of Gaza War Crimes; Only U.S. Votes Against Investigating by AP • 45000 Londoners Protest...

Recently weÂ’ve been featuring occasional prints of the Liberator (and will also have other 3D printed guns soon-ish). One of the Liberators we showed you was printed on the 3D Systems Cube in blue plastic. We didnÂ’t name the guy who did it, but heÂ’s Travis Lerol. The website Mashable did a nice mini-documentary in which they interview the media-happy Cody Wilson, and accompany Lerol to the first attempted live fire of his Liberator. Travis, an Air Force vet, comes across as an engaging geek (along with the Liberator and several AR-15 lower iterations, heÂ’s printed a scale-model TARDIS, from...
