I could not figure out how to post this photo (sorry), but my wife dropped my kid off at his summer school yesterday and there was a bulletin board full of posters that read "Ramadan Mubarak." She took a picture of it today and sent it to me. She knew Ramadan was a religious holiday and asked me for it's meaning. It essentially means "Blessed month" and is also used as a greeting. She called the administrative office for the district first thing this morning and she said the woman she spoke to was horrified and very adamantly stated they...

A new study released Tuesday found that Pakistan’s public school textbooks negatively portray the country’s religious minorities, including Hindus, Christians and Ahmadis, as “untrustworthy, religiously inferior, and ideologically scheming.” […] The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) sponsored the study, which was conducted by the Pakistan-based NGO Peace and Education Foundation (PEF). The study found 70 new instances of bias in addition to finding that some problematic content found in a 2011 study conducted by USCIRF had remained and even been expanded upon. “Pakistan’s public school textbooks contain deeply troubling content that portrays non-Muslim citizens as outsiders, unpatriotic, and...

A sex-abuse scandal at Phillips Exeter Academy widened on Tuesday, as police said they are investigating “multiple allegations of misconduct and abuse” involving former faculty members at the prestigious New Hampshire boarding school. The announcement came less than a week after the school publicly disclosed that Rick Schubart — who held positions as chair of the history department, director of admissions, dorm adviser, and coach during his nearly 40-year career — had been permanently barred from campus after admitting to sexual misconduct in two cases dating back to the 1970s and 1980s. (snip) The scandal has also affected politics in...
  • Muslim school in England teaches hate for Jews, Europe

A private Muslim school in England is again drawing attention, this time for teaching anti-Semitism and a strong anti-European ideology. The Islamic Tarbiyah Academy, located in the northern town of Dewsbury, offers classes for 140 children, as well as hosting an after-school religious program and adult education classes. It is still run by its founder, Mufti Zubair Dudha. Sky News recently revealed that a significant portion of Mufti Dudha’s teachings revolve around convincing his students that the outside world is dedicated to attacking Muslims. To counter this, Dudha treats interactions with the wider society as a battle of life and...
  • Students practice calligraphy by writing "There is no god but Allah"

A Virginia school district is defending a classroom assignment that required students to practice calligraphy by writing the Muslim statement of faith, “There is no god but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” Female students at Riverheads High School in Staunton, Virginia, were also invited to wear Muslim clothing -- a story first reported by The Schilling Show.

Since I'm well aware of how leftists' claims of erudition are as empty as their ideology, not many of their failures surprise me. But an exception came last night when Whoopi Goldberg was interviewed by Bill O'Reilly. The two were discussing their differing views on the nature of the Islamic threat, with O'Reilly maintaining that we have a "Muslim problem" and Goldberg insisting that, no, we have a "terrorist problem." In typical leftist style, she even went so far as to rationalize away the threat, implying at one point that terrorists were as likely to be white guys as anyone...
  • Exclusive: ‘Muslims-Only’ Enclave Thrives In Philadelphia

Thanks to U.S. taxpayers, an Islamic enclave is being carved out of the heart of the City of Brotherly Love. And how generous have you been with your tax dollars? You just gave $1.6 billion for the privilege of turning over all this cash to the Islamic community. The person doing the carving is Kenny Gamble, the author of such hit songs as “Love Train” and “Me and Mrs. Jones.” So far Americans have shelled out $1.6 billion in federal grants, loans, and “charitable” gifts to create an alleged “Muslims-only” community. A convert to Islam, Gamble, now known as Luqman...
  • Malkin Sharia in the schools: Monitoring the American madrassa

Katharine Kersten’s excellent investigative work on the Minnesota taxpayer-funded Islamic school, TIZA, has led to a state probe of the institution. It has also shed light again on the spread of sharia in U.S. secondary public schools. You’ll remember the heated battle in San Diego over Muslim prayers in a public charter school. You may recall the jihadi crossword puzzle discovered by parents in Johnston County, NC. In Contra Costa (CA) County, school officials allowed Islam indoctrination lessons that subjected public school students to prayer recitation sessions and Muslim re-naming. Remember?
  • Carver Elementary - San Diego Public School Bows To Sharia

Those having doubts that New York Department of Education’s proposed Arabic school - Khalil Gibran International Academy - will inevitably turn into a madrassah should consider how a similar experiment in the San Diego Unified School District is turning out. In September Carver Elementary school [kindergarten - eighth grade] accepted nearly 100 students from a failed charter school which served a Somali Muslim constituency. The school population now numbers approximately 400. Though these kids are now being educated within the wall of Carver, they have not been incorporated into the main student population and operate as a school-within-a-school, a segregated...

ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf may be threatening to send them packing, but foreign students in Pakistan's numerous madrassas seem to have plenty of friends in the administration. Senior Pakistani politicians and religious leaders have come out openly in support of the foreign students, saying they are not the terrorists the West is making them out to be. "There is no proof of involvement of any madrassa (seminary) student in any terrorist activity," said Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, chief of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League. "I will take up the matter with the interior ministry," Hussain said, adding that students who got...

Pakistan's extremist religious schools 'in mourning' for Taliban's collapse David Blair (Filed: 18/02/2004) Nothing at the spartan madrassahs has been changed, reports David Blair in Charsadda Small boys wearing white caps and flowing robes played in the shadow of jagged snow-capped peaks lining the frontier with Afghanistan. Thoughts of turmoil on the far side of the mountains still trouble staff and pupils in the spartan, bare classrooms of the Dar ul-Uloom Islamia Madrassah in Pakistan. "We are in mourning for the collapse of the Taliban," said Maulana Gouhar Shah, the leader of the madrassah. "We are still weeping for them....
