A Denny’s breakfast platter has apparently become extremely expensive amid choking inflation and labor costs. A post on Reddit shows an image of the restaurant’s menu where the price of the Lumberjack Slam sits at $17.99, the New York Post reported on Friday, noting that a decade ago, the meal cost around $5.99: Click here to see the post. “The hefty price tag doesn’t include the premium option of upgrading the pancakes to double berry banana, cinnamon roll, or ‘choconana’ for an extra $3.09, which would bring the pre-tax, pre-tip total to $21.08,” the Post article said, noting the location...

Making a run for freedom Posted on Sat, Oct. 06, 2007 By NICHOLAS SPANGLER The remarkable thing about running through downtown Miami at lunch hour in nothing but Nikes and a red, white and blue thong is how many people don't notice. They were talking on their phones; shuffling documents; concentrating on walking. Not until he climbed the steps of the Miami-Dade Courthouse did a few lawyerly types point and smile at the nearly naked man. He was Michael Tisdale, a lumberjack hailing from the Redland, protesting the state of the nation. This had nothing to do with his being...

...My bosses knew me as Mike and had no idea I was a transsexual. AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - An Amsterdam barber has been arrested for stabbing a client with scissors, the second such incident involving the barber, Dutch police said on Saturday. The client was stabbed and seriously wounded after a fight broke out earlier this week at the barber's shop, police said. The barber stabbed another client with scissors in 2000. The man later died of his wounds, although the barber was cleared of any charges after a court found he had acted in self-defense. Police said they were holding the man, 42, and investigating whether attempted manslaughter charges should be brought against him.

Stjepan Lizacic says he was a manly lumberjack until doctors saved his life and made him a laughing stock. The 56-year-old Croatian claims he started "enjoying housework and knitting" after doctors replaced his pickled and diseased kidney with a female kidney. Instead of enjoying a night of heavy drinking with his pals, Lizacic now prefers housework. "The kidney transplant saved my life, but they never warned me about the side effects,'' the lumberjack told his local paper. "I have developed a strange passion for female jobs like ironing, sewing, washing dishes, sorting clothes in wardrobes and even knitting." Lizacic, who...

Tech Today: Walking Forest Machine Here's an invention whose appearance could give Dr. Seuss's tree-hugging character the Lorax a heart attack. Looking for all the world like a giant robotic ant or scorpion, Plustech's Walking Forest Machine is a 21st century lumberjack's dream. A sophisticated artificial intelligence controls the legs, carrying the operator over all sorts of terrain. It can reach timber on steep slopes or in soft soil that would mire wheeled vehicles. Timber that would normally be inaccessible can now be scouted and harvested. But despite its fearsome appearance, the Walking Machine is actually meant to be environmentally...
