Kamala Harris is a trainwreck coming. Everywhere she goes and every event she attends seems to have some sort of gaffe. Her event in Louisiana is no exception.

Vice President Kamala Harris was interviewed by Keke Palmer in New Orleans, Louisana over the weekend as part of Essence Festival, but the bright lights and official backdrop behind the two women couldn't distract from one problem: Louisiana was misspelled on the official signage. Yep, whether it was Essence Fest or the West Wing that had final approval over the backdrop, the typo went unnoticed by everyone...until it was too late. There, as Harris and Palmer talked about the state of the country (more on that later), was LOUSIANA in giant letters over the vice president like the midterms loom...

The measure would have required abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at hospitals within 30 miles of a clinic. The Supreme Court ruled Monday that Louisiana's tough restriction on abortion violates the Constitution, a surprising victory for abortion rights advocates from an increasingly conservative court. The 5-4 decision in which Chief Justice John Roberts joined with the courts liberal justices struck down a law passed by Louisiana's legislature in 2014 that required any doctor offering abortion services to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles. Its enforcement had been blocked by a protracted legal battle. Two Louisiana doctors...

For the third time in a week, LT stood at the reception in the abortion clinic in Shreveport, Louisiana, more than 90 minutes away from her home. She was – again – looking for the right paperwork to show her boss why she had taken time off work from her busy job at a chain restaurant in north-eastern Louisiana. LT had first showed him a $550 receipt from the clinic. No, he told the 22-year-old single mother, he wanted a doctor’s note from the clinic. So – using the last $25 she had in her bank account – she drove...

SULPHUR — After the Sulphur City Council adjourned their meeting Monday night, councilman Stuart Moss spoke at length about what he considers to be a “public health and safety issue.” “The traffic issues on Maplewood Drive have become outrageous,” said Moss. “Not one person can do this (fix the issue) and it’s not going to be resolved overnight.” Moss was referring specifically to the intersection at Prater Road and Maplewood Drive. Moss lives on Eveland — off of Maplewood — and said during peak time (from 3:30 p.m. until as late as 9 p.m.), it can take an hour and...

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and running mate Mike Pence will visit flood-damaged areas of Baton Rouge, La. Friday. Record flooding across Louisiana has killed at least 13 people. Over 85,000 people have registered for federal disaster assistance, more than 30,000 have been rescued, and an estimated 40,000 homes have been damaged. Trump addressed the flooding at a rally in Charlotte, N.C. Thursday night, calling Louisiana “a state that is very, very special to me.”

The 2014 elections swept many formidable pro-abortion incumbents from the Senate. The last to remain standing is Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu, who has voted against the pro-life position on every vote scored by NRLC during her current six year term in office. She faces a December 6 run-off against pro-life challenger Rep. Bill Cassidy. While it is undeniable that the political climate was favorable to Republicans, a closer analysis of the results shows several of the key Senate races were won or lost by the slimmest of margins. In North Carolina, pro-life Thom Tillis defeated pro-abortion Kay Hagan by just...

A Louisiana Republican challenging Democrat Mary Landrieu for her Senate seat is expanding his efforts to prove the three-term lawmaker doesn’t live in her home state, instead using her parents’ address to qualify for the November ballot. GOP Senate candidate Rob Maness on Friday submitted a written compliant to district attorneys in four Louisiana parishes calling on them to object to Landrieu’s residency qualifications.

For Immediate ReleaseOffice of the Press SecretaryAugust 26, 2006 President's Radio Address Audio In Focus: Hurricane Katrina THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Earlier this week, I had coffee with Rockey Vaccarella in the White House. Rockey is from Saint Bernard Parish in Louisiana, and he and his family lost everything they owned to Hurricane Katrina. Rockey drove to Washington to thank the federal government for its efforts to help people like him. And he brought a trailer along to help remind us that many good people along our Gulf Coast are still living in difficult conditions, and that...

Following the raid by FBI officials on the Capitol Hill office of Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA), there was immediate reaction by legislators. Did they express shock at what Rep. Jefferson was accused of doing? Did they make strong public statements denouncing corruption and promoting ethical policies and practices? No. Instead, congressional leaders criticized the FBI for coming on their “turf” and enforcing the laws of the land. It seems that members of Congress were more offended that the FBI would investigate one of their own than by the alleged actions of a wayward congressman. Is there something wrong with this...

As Hurricane Katrina dismantles Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, it’s worth recalling the central role that Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour played in derailing the Kyoto Protocol and kiboshing President Bush’s iron-clad campaign promise to regulate CO2.
