iHeartMedia Liberal Talk “92.1 The Mic” WXXM Sun Prairie/Madison WI dropped its format at 11am this morning and has flipped to Christmas Music as “92.1 Best-FM“. Yet another of Clear Channel’s Liberal Talk stations is dropping the format. “AM 760″ KKZN Thornton/Denver is next in line to shift to another Talk variation following similar moves in recent months at sister stations in Portland and Los Angeles. Morning host Gloria Neal posted on Facebook that she had been fired as the station would be changing formats. With Randi Rhodes ending her syndicated show next week the station is losing two of its shows. (Columbus OH) It was announced on WVKO-AM this morning, that as of midnight tomorrow, the format on WVKO-AM will be changing. The LMA for the station will ending at that time and the station won't be Progressive Talk anymore. Thanks to Gary Richards for bringing back the format to Columbus radio for one more go around. That said, Mr. Richards said last year he wanted to buy the station outright so this is a disappointment to me. My guess is the new lease holders will take the station to a Urban Gospel format. Just a guess on my part.

Clear Channel Liberal Talk 620 KPOJ Portland will flip to Sports “Fox Sports 620“. KPOJ garnered a 1.0 share in the October ratings, up from a 0.8 in September. It will join a Portland Sports battle that includes Alpha Broadcasting’s “750 The Game” KXTG and Entercom’s “1080 The Fan” KFXX. 620 will remain the co-flagship of Oregon State University play-by-play along with sister Talk 1190/102.3 KEX. Liberal talk radio host Stephanie Miller at one point said she thought the comments of Rush Limbaugh wanting Obama to fail are treasonous and that he should be executed! A concerned fan of Air America which lost its Boston stations in Dec. wrote to the FCC saying that it just isn't fair that no liberal radio (but: what about NPR?) exists in a very liberal town. In Southern California, conservative radio has reached a new ratings high: first place. That would be KFI-AM we're talking about, home of Rush Limbaugh and morning host Bill Handel.
