MLB and the Players Association have agreed to a change to the collective bargaining agreement that’ll help teams whose television rights situations are uncertain. Evan Drellich of The Athletic reports that the league is now permitted to redirect its portion of competitive balance tax money to clubs that have lost TV revenue. Those teams can receive a maximum of $15MM or the necessary amount to compensate for their revenue drop. Teams that exceed the competitive balance tax threshold are required to pay fees at the end of each season. The league and union split the money. The MLBPA’s portion funds...

While just 7% of Americans are LGBTQ+, students at Ivy League universities are identifying as non-straight at rates as much as five times the general public. Brown University made headlines after a student poll revealed a whopping 38% of their student body is not straight. “Honestly I’m not surprised by that statistic,” an anonymous senior at Brown University told The Post. “At Brown, there’s no social pressure to fit into a box or hide your identity.” Other Ivies aren’t far behind. In fact, more than a third of students at Princeton and more than a quarter at Yale and Harvard...

National Urban League President Marc Morial said Friday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is the “21st-century George Wallace.” On Fox News, DeSantis said, “We have school choice. That’s one of the reasons why our black students perform as high as just about any black students in the country. You go to Baltimore or Chicago, some of the kids are more likely to get shot than have a high-quality education. I don’t hear the NAACP talking about that.”

Rev. Jesse Jackson, the polarizing civil rights activist, is calling for Little League International to return the U.S. championship to the 12-year-olds from Jackie Robinson West, mere hours after Little League stripped the team of its title. And if that doesn't happen, Jackson said Wednesday afternoon, he may take legal action. Jackie Robinson West — consumed in a vortex of allegations involving ineligible players and illegally redrawing its league boundaries — became a feel-good story in Chicago and across the country on its run to the Little League World Series. An all-black team that was supported by MLB players, Jackie...

The New York Times published a most unfortunate editorial on Tuesday based entirely on an inaccurate premise.... "It is heartbreaking," the paper's editorial board wrote, "to see the Israeli cabinet approve a contentious bill that would officially define Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people, reserving 'national rights' only for Jews." The paper implicitly refers to the bill as one that "diminishes the rights of [Israel's] people" and "[denies] full rights to minorities." The proposed bill does neither of these. By granting the Jewish People exclusive "national rights" in Israel, the new bill does not deny civil or democratic...

With helmets and hats hung low, a Little League team from Cumberland, Rhode Island, gathered to hear the words of their coach after a heartbreaking loss to Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West in the Little League World Series Monday. Cumberland scored five runs in the bottom of the third to take a 7-6 lead, but couldn’t score in the last two innings and in the end was eliminated from the tournament. Despite their loss, Coach Dave Belisle’s touching words on the infield after the game are keeping the team in the limelight a little bit longer. “Heads up high. Heads up...

The Arab League, as expected, on Wednesday blamed Israel for the impasse in the peace talks with the Palestinian Authority (PA), and called on the United States to keep up efforts to salvage the talks. At a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo, the Arab League said Israel was responsible for the “serious predicament” facing the negotiations, citing its failure to release about two dozen terrorist prisoners as one of the major causes, reported the Lebanese Daily Star. “[The ministers] called on America to continue its efforts for the resumption of the negotiation track that obliges Israel to implement...

A New Jersey woman who was struck in the face with a baseball at a Little League game is suing the young catcher who threw it. Elizabeth Lloyd is seeking more than $150,000 in damages to cover medical costs from the Manchester Little League game two years ago. She's also seeking an undefined amount for pain and suffering. Lloyd was sitting at a picnic table near a fenced-in bullpen when she was hit with the ball. Catcher Matthew Migliaccio was 11 years old at the time and was warming up a pitcher. Anthony Pagano, a lawyer for the Migliaccio and...

A growing number of Israelis and foreign Jewish groups are expressing concern over the anti-Semitic flavor of some of the "Occupy Wall St." economic protests in the US. From the 13th century expulsion of Englands Jews to the 19th century Russian pogroms to the Nazi Holocaust, sour economic conditions have historically formed the backdrop of rising anti-Semitism.(snip) Israel's Yediot Ahronot newspaper called the anti-Semitic outbursts ''hard to watch,'' and an Israeli commenter said, ''It's just like pre-World War II Nazi Germany. You think blood libels can't happen in America?''

The Arab League condemned on Sunday Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip, calling on Israel to cease military action in both the strip and Egypt immediately. The Arab League issued a statement on Sunday, imploring the United Nations to take action to end the attacks in which 15 people have died. "We issued a statement condemning the Israeli offensive on Gaza ... and Egyptian land," Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby told reporters in Cairo. Talk about a parent totally striking out. Janet Chiauzzi, an East Meadow, N.Y. mom, has been arrested and charged with stalking, falsely reporting an incident, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated harassment, allegedly because her son did not make a summer baseball travel team, "Today" reports. Chiauzzi allegedly threatened the Little League official she deemed responsible, sending letters to his kids' school that accused him of physical and verbal abuse, according to the news show, and even addressed the official's own young son. "If something happens to your dad or mom, or your sister, you can blame your...

The Arab League on Sunday announced during a special meeting in Cairo that it plans to press the UN to impose a no-fly zone over Gaza amid an escalation in violence in the area, AFP reported. Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa said he plans to present the proposal to the UN Security Council, the report said. The announcement came as Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported on Sunday that UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Roberty Serry successfully brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip including Hamas.

J’lem concerned PA may not want even indirect talks without freeze; Fayyad says Palestinians seeking state, not just another declaration. The Palestinian Authority was looking to Arab League foreign ministers who met on Wednesday night in Cairo to “tie its hands” and not authorize even proximity talks until Israel freezes settlement construction, Israeli government officials said. And, indeed, the Arab League obliged, with the ministers speaking out against any talks – direct or indirect – unless the US takes a firm stance on the future borders of a Palestinian state. “The negotiation track between the Palestinians and Israelis is futile....

Madison Heights, Mich. (WXYZ) - Jennifer Tesch's six-year-old daughter has been removed from the Madison Heights Wolverine flag football cheer team. The Madison Heights mom contacted Action News last month because she was upset about the words to one of her daughter's cheerleading chants. The cheer she objects to says "our backs ache, our skirts are too tight, we shake our booties from left to right." League members were outraged, saying it cast a bad light on the league and she should have handled it internally. The team voted to keep the cheer and voted unanimously to remove the child...

Is there any doubt that the ADL has become an adjunct of the DNC? The Anti-Defamation League pushes a leftist agenda in the guise of fighting anti-Semitism and bigotry. The ADL and the establishment left have a Vulcan mind meld. The left thinks a wave of anti-Obama hysteria is sweeping the land, driven by ignorance and prejudice. So does the ADL. The left believes Islam is a benign force, and frets that terrorist acts -- like the Fort Hood murders -- will negatively impact on American Muslims. The ADL couldn't agree more.

THERE were angry clashes in a city centre today as right-wing protesters fought with anti-fascist campaigners in a busy shopping street. A planned demonstration by The English Defence League in central Birmingham descended into violence as the group charged along New Street, close to the city's main train station. One onlooker said: "There were about 250 people in total, fighting and throwing bottles at each other." The disorder spilled onto the adjoining Bennetts Hill, a street lined with a number of pubs, popular with shoppers. Dozens of riot police worked to contain the disturbance and a police helicopter hovered overhead....
