WASHINGTON (AP) -- People convicted of minor domestic violence offenses can be barred from possessing guns even in states where no proof of physical violence is required to support the domestic violence charge, the Supreme Court ruled Wednesday. The ruling was a victory for the Obama administration, gun control groups and advocates for victims of domestic abusers who say the gun ban is critical in preventing the escalation of domestic violence. The justices unanimously rejected the argument put forth by gun rights groups and a Tennessee man who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic assault against the mother of his child...

Sen. Joe Lieberman, the longtime Democratic senator from Connecticut running for re-election as an independent, says the party leadership has assured him he would keep his seniority if he returns to Congress. Local Democrats are responding with irritation, political opponents voice disbelief, and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) denies making a decision. But the strongest response is likely to come from Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) who views Lieberman’s independent status as an opportunity to press Democratic leaders to restore seniority he lost four years ago. If Lautenberg retrieves seniority accrued during 18 years of Senate service before retiring in...

This is the text of a letter to the editor that I am submitting to the Philadelphia Inquirer and to the USA Today. I would appreciate comments Does your company use workers that are here illegally either directly or through a consulting/temp firm? Has the use of illegals meant reduced pay, smaller raises or reduced hours for you? Does your business play by the rules but have to compete in the marketplace against a company that uses illegal aliens? Have you been laid off from a job or not hired because a company decided to bring someone on board that...

Hillary Clinton makes Ohio stop Senator teams with Cleveland's Tubbs Jones on voting reform act that would make major changes By Martin Cizmar Beacon Journal staff writer WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS - Before the United States can encourage democracy in other nations, it needs to improve its own process, Sen. Hillary Clinton told an area audience Saturday. ``We cannot be exporting democracy to places like Iraq and Afghanistan when we don't have democracy at home,'' the New York Democrat said at an election reform forum at Warrensville Heights High School gymnasium in suburban Cleveland. Clinton joined U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Cleveland,...

OK, now that the election is over, and the Louse-en-berg won, any idea on what might happen in SCOTUS? Do you think they will rule on the "Illegal Substitution"?

Sean Hannity just finished interviewing Frank Lautenburg, the Dem relief candidate for senate from NJ. The old geezer ran circles around him. SH actually praised himself for being tough on him after the interview. I've heard about those who are slow on their feet but this guy's not even awake!

Hearing these wind bags stumbling through their debates and press conferences -- I can't help but think of the scene in Austin Powers, when Dr. Evil spouts his plot to hold the world for ransom for "One Million Dollars". Was this national "Defrost a Democrat Month" ? Can someone with Photoshop skills bring this to life?

The New Jersey Senate election is critical. NJ is a Democrat "machine" state. As you can tell by the recent polls, Lautenburg is already ahead. Amost 50% of voters in NJ favor him over Forrester. We need to prepare for the worst: The US SC will reject the cases involved or will rule against Forrester. What matters most is the get out the vote effort. Voter turnout can overcome the Democrat machinery in NJ. You can bet the Dems are going to have a massive get out the vote effort. To counter this, we need to get out the Republican...

I just heard that Lautenburg2002.com has been registered for the Democratic Senate Cmapaign in New Jersey. As an act of bi-partisanship, I feel we should help the Democratic party find better names for their website. Senate Dems Raise $10 Million Tue Oct 1, 9:14 PM ET By SHARON THEIMER, Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Democrats raised $10 million Tuesday night, providing a crucial influx of cash at their last big fund-raiser before an election that will decide whether they keep their narrow majority. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee began September with less than half the cash on hand of its Republican counterpart. The National Republican Senatorial Committee added to its reported $18 million advantage last week, when President Bush helped it raise at least $8 million more. The money chase didn't seem to...
