Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), who is mulling a potential bid for the White House, said on Sunday that GOP contenders will need to “go through” former President Trump if they want to be the Republican nominee in 2024. “There’s one lane. And that one lane, Donald Trump’s at the head of. So, if you want to be the nominee, you got to go through Donald Trump. I don’t think there’s any other way to do it,” Christie said on ABC’s “This Week.”

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie wondered if the Republican field has what it takes to stop former President Donald Trump. Christie challenged Republicans to find someone who can do to Trump “what I did to Marco” Rubio — a callback to his 2016 debate-stage evisceration of the Republican senator from Florida — “because that’s the only thing that’s going to defeat” Trump. “You have to be fearless, because he will come back — and right at you,” Christie said. “And that means you need to think about who’s got the skill to do that, and who’s...

Attorneys for George Floyd’s family refuted defense claims that Floyd died of a drug overdose while in the custody of Minneapolis police officers. Attorney Ben Crump said it was the four criminally charged former officers who caused Floyd’s death. “They are trying to say that the knee on [Floyd’s] neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds was reasonable,” Crump said. “They are trying to claim some asinine theory about an overdose. America saw what happened. And so, who are you going to believe, your eyes or these killer cops?” Floyd died in police custody after officers responded to a report...

Attorneys for two former rookie Minneapolis police officers on Thursday rejected accusations that their clients aided and abetted the killing of George Floyd, casting blame instead on a senior officer who allegedly ignored his younger counterparts.[snip] “What is my client supposed to do but follow what the [senior] officer says?” Lane’s attorney, Earl Gray, argued in court. “The strength of this case, your honor, in my opinion is extremely weak.” [snip] Defense attorneys said Kueng, 26, of Plymouth, was working his third shift ever as a full-time officer and Lane, 37, of St. Paul, was working his fourth day as...

A hurricane warning has been issued for Oahu as Lane continues to track toward the islands as a massive Category 4 storm. The Big Island and Maui County also remain under a hurricane warning, while Kauai County is under a hurricane watch. Lane was centered about 260 miles south of Kailua-Kona — or 385 miles south-southeast of Honolulu — and has slowed to just 8 mph. Hurricane Lane passed just south of the Big Island on Wednesday morning and is now marching northwest, bringing it "dangerously close" to the island chain as a hurricane Thursday through Saturday. Heavy rains from...

Only two Idaho drivers have been cited for driving too slowly in the fast lane since the state’s new “slowpoke” law took effect July 1. Three other drivers got warnings that they better go the speed limit in the left lane or scoot over. Those numbers, current as of July 27, are from the Idaho State Police, which patrols the state’s highways. Tickets for speeding during that time frame — numbering 2,495 — far surpass these five cases of impeding fast-lane traffic. Even so, the new law gives troopers another tool to keep roads safer, said bill sponsor Rep. Lance...

An attempt to locate a bank robbery suspect is costing the city of Aurora $325,000. The city agreed to settle a lawsuit brought forth by people who were detained at an intersection while police tried to find a man who robbed a nearby bank. Some motorists were approached at gunpoint by police following the robbery, handcuffed and made to wait two hours before the scene was cleared. Stacks of money stolen from the bank contained a GPS tracking device that led police to the intersection. When police arrived in the area, they weren't able to use GPS to specifically pinpoint...

The Ontario lottery corporation recently started advertising its newest scratch-and-win lottery: tickets cost $30 (the highest price among its lotteries), and the top prize is a cool $2.5 million. Now, if you want an indication of how bad traffic is in the GTA, consider that Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca announced a lottery of his own on Thursday: tickets cost $180 each, though you only pay if you win. The prize? One of 1,000 permits to drive in an uncongested highway lane for 16 kilometres between Burlington and Oakville. The ad copy writes itself: Imagine the freedom of cruising at...

A Boulder County jury convicted Dynel Lane on all counts Tuesday — including attempted murder — in the vicious attack that left an expectant Longmont mother fighting for her life and claimed her unborn child. After seven hours of deliberation over two days, the jury found Lane guilty of attempted first-degree murder, two counts each of first- and second-degree assault, and unlawful termination of a pregnancy. Michelle Wilkins, the 27-year-old who lost her unborn daughter in the March 18 attack, hugged her father as the guilty verdict was read, bringing the weeklong trial to an end and closing a pivotal...

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Gal 5:1 Back before the communist took over the Universities I had a professor who said everything is based on economics. Every decision you make good or bad is an economic decision on how that decision will cost or reward you. He gave the example of marriage as an economic decision women make proving that it is not based on love for women, but on what benefits a potential husband brings to her economic...

In the United States, if you are convicted of a hate crime, your sentence is usually extended 15 years or so. This trend of criminalizing thought - as noble as it seems in the case of hate crimes - is a dangerous precedent. Allow me to explain. The goal of the state in law and law enforcement is to seek justice for those who have been wronged. This is a simple statement that underpins conservative civic theory, limited government, and a victim- not criminal-centered approach to justice, but it certainly goes against most of legal philosophy today. And I am...

Fearful residents in the Oklahoma city where Australian Chris Lane was gunned down are buying up handguns to protect themselves. One of Duncan's most popular gun shops, Danny's Gun Pawn, is reporting a rise in sales of handguns. Top of the shopping list is the Ruger LCP, a US-made, ultra-light .38 calibre pistol that can be carried in a purse or concealed on the body. 'Oh yeah,' Elaine, a spokeswoman at the shop who did not want to give her surname, replied on Thursday when asked if there had been a rise in sales since Mr Lane's death a week...

Our own Col. Allen West appeared on Hannity last night and took on the gansta culture that appears to have heavily influenced the murder of Chris Lane in Oklahoma one week ago today. West, who hosts at our sister site Next Generation TV along with John Phillips and Michelle Fields, told substitute host David Webb. “It is a gangster culture out there. It is a culture that is being permeated throughout the media, and throughout the entertainment industry, that we need to start speaking out about. And furthermore, when you think about the fact that 72% of black babies...

Was it a thrill kill or part of a gang initiation? That would be the bushwhacking of Chris Lane, an Aussie college kid and baseball star. Lane was gunned down running along a country road near Duncan, Oklahoma, the other day. You know the story by now. Does it matter what motivated Allen Luna and James Francis Edwards, Jr., Chris Lane's accused killers, and Michael Dewayne Jones, an accessory, to off a young man with a promising future who was just going about the routine of his life on a summer's day? In one sense it doesn't matter. Whether those...
